Bought AND OPENED The Wrong Printer Cartridge

I recently picked up the wrong black ink printer cartridge, and unfortunately opened it before realising it was the wrong one :/

Any thoughts on what I can do with it now? I can't see the store taking it back, but it's so frustrating because it's completely unused. Totally my fault, but just wondering if anyone had any ideas.

Give it to a mate or sell on eBay as opened not used.

that doesn't sound sketchy at all..

Is the number on the box not big enough for you? ;)

Yeah obviously not. I know I'm an idiot.

smash it on/over/against a blank canvas and hang it on a wall

    • of an art gallery.

  • If you're not buying memory chips and refills, then you're doing it wrong.

Refills are cheap and poor quality. We purchased a few before and ended up damaging the printer with ink leaking inside. The printings were never the same after that.

If you have a inkjet printer, then you're also doing it wrong.

        • We didn't need a colour laser when we purchased the inkjet. It's printing right and economic enough running genuine ink. Perhaps we'll change to laser when they stop making the ink.

buy the printer the cartidge will go into.

Isn't it better to buy new printers instead of cartridges these days? It's the free market way so obviously it's best!

The cartridge in a new printer is not full. Like buying a new car and they give you half a tank

Donate it to a homeless person as they often dont have ink for their printers so they cant print their resumes.

      So inappropriate, and so funny.

  • Buy a printer that it will fit in.

  • I often drop by the "clearance" rack at a Woolworths when I go to one and they usually have one or two opened/returned printer cartridges for sale at half price or so.

So if you got it from a shop in the Woolworths chain, they might take it back for a refund or store voucher.

  • As previously indicated, Ebay is your best bet. Resell as opened but unused. Refer to this OzB link. It lends a small amount of authenticity.

    • Put it on Gumtree as a freebie, and walk away wounded but wiser - but kinda feeling good because of your generosity.

      • I can imagine all the gumtree people asking 'Can I have the printer it goes with for free too?', or 'Can you drive it over to me, I am only 45mins away?', maybe even 'Do you have the receipt so I can return it for a refund?'.

Facebook buy/swap/sell groups in your local area would be a good place to advertise since it's mostly pickup only on those groups.
