Apple watch - can it do Spotify offline?

Considering buying some airpods and apple watch for my wife. We probably only interested in the non-LTE edition as we don't want another plan etc.

She generally runs with Spotify. Does anyone who have the Apple Watch (whichever edition), whether it lets you save a whole bunch of songs on the device to run with it?

nope it can not, there isn't even a spotify app for the apple watch

    • wow just checked and it's true. That's unbelievable. Not on Android Wear either. Must be a licensing issue or something - cause that's a pretty big reason to switch to Google Play Music or Apple Music.

      • that's odd because my Samsung Gear S3 has a dedicated Spotify app and that's on the less-supported (but better than AndroidWear) Tizen

      • Err, there is a Spotify app on Android Wear - it's more or less a remote control though. There is also a third party that works as a full client however.

Ok, so you waited for someone to reply before you did your own research?

    • There's one called "Snowy" that was being developed for the Apple Watch. I remember reading somewhere it's been taken over by Spotify so maybe they're working on an official app? Not sure how soon it'll be released though.

I had a play with the Apple Watch last week and for now you are able to use the watch as a remote control to play/pause/skip/adjust volume natively (it works really well and no app is needed). And with a 3rd party app, you can also select individual tracks/playlists.
