GoDaddy Issues - options changed without my intervention.

FYI I am experiencing glitches with various GoDaddy products presently:

  • domains reverted to autorenew and charged for (multiple domain)
  • Customised MX record set reverted to default with my MX record removed
  • permanent domain redirection removed

These were noticed because they did create troubles but there may be more, I have about 50 domains with them and it will take time to check all.

This does not seem to be one-off glitches with my account, as a colleague found issues after I told him about mine.

I suggest you check as well if you have these kind of products with them.
GoDaddy is investigating and has changed the stance of "one off glitch"
They also refunded the unauthorised domain renewals.

  • I noticed this on a couple of products recently to.
I turned off auto renew as i was moving my business elsewhere.

Just chat to them and ask for a refund, they were happy to do that for me and i believe its in their terms anyways.

Not good still. but you can get your money back if you didnt want the renewals.

    • I mentioned in the initial post that they refunded, not a problem there…
The problem is that I cannot rely on the settings anymore - if they change willy-nilly…

Apart from this I am overall mildly satisfied with their services.

Browsing through the forums…. Thought I read Go Daddy….. It's different than what I thought.

What a weird name for a web business :/, on a side not when I swipe the word "forums" "girls" is often spelled :/.

I put the GoDaddy in title but it seems that it was changed at the suggested capitalisation.

        Updated to GoDaddy

  • Wait, wait, you mean to say the business that attemted to upsell you pointless, useless products every time you changed pages by pretending that great dangers existed if you didn't or that you could pay 10 dollars and get number 1 ranking in Google because SEO - this business, out of all businesses, they had a "one off glitch" which just happened to involve large number of their customers being billed without their knowledge.

    NO. SURELY NOT.

Also the proper response when a business attempts to defraud you is to leave. Not complain how "well, that's not great but oh well, mistakesz lol" - (profanity) leave.

I had a domain with them once, they were dodgy as. Wouldn't use them again

  • i thought this thread was about Daddy Issues

    • You can share… :)

  • This has happened before few years ago - i.e. products that were manually renewed got changed to auto-renew. I had not noticed this in the last few years - so I thought these issues were over. Hmm… Thanks for the heads-up.

  • Used godaddy a few times, hated it. Namesilo and Namecheap are much better.
