Don't confuse the sheep with the wolves…

  • Oho, fuel discount voucher wars! Bugger, I bought $30 Pepsi yesterday. Oh well, would have to go out of my way to shop at Woolies today so that would have negated the 4c additional saving.

    • How the hell did you spend that much? 2x 30packs?

      • Yes, there are some left over from last week's offers.

Well done for typing all the conditions out, you missed one thing which I noticed "On sale from Friday 5th November 2010 until Tuesday 30th November 2010"

But it is in the title so everyone should be able to work out when it ends

Thanks, I thought I should since the picture is so small you can't read them, updated now

  • Woolies vs Coles
Wait and see who will win :)

    Nice post.
But the Coles one is better for those who have source credit cards.

    • Why?

      • You get another 4c via a voucher with your next CC statement.

      • If you have a Coles Source CC, you will get a 4c voucher for every purchase over $30 at Coles, Bi-Lo, Liqourland and some other places I forget and never go to.

It's not a bad CC actually, no annual fee and a good interest-free period. Now and then they give you a bonus, like $20 gift card for the $500 I spent in July (it so happened I had a lot of bills that month, so that was lucky). Sorry if this sounds like an ad for them, but I do use it and a couple of other no annual fee cards all the time.

          This is woolworths lol

        • Look at the question I was answering, starting with VBO's post.

  • is this nationwide?

    • Just tried it in Adelaide. 8c discount confirmed.

  • First line of T&C: On sale from Friday 5th November 2010 until Tuesday 30th November 2010 unless sold out earlier…… how can you practically 'sell out' these fuel discounts??? This sentence is not found in Cole's T&C. Strange.

    • Haha what idiots.

"Sorry we've run out of receipt rolls no more fuel vouchers for you!"

    • I think they meant the product on offer (ie. 4 cent discount). There's probably only a certain number of transactions under the offer program that is eligible for double discount.

    • It gives Woolworths an out to cancel the offer if they notice people are abusing it (in Woolworth's opinion).

I plan to stock up on non perishables on special that I would normally purchase anyway. Buy a few lots of $30 and stock up the discounts to last to the end of December.

I like woolies better because they offer permanent 10% on phone credits :)
will be utilising this one over the coles offer

  • I just went to Woolies Bottle shop and purchased $70 of booz although I divided it up into two transactions over $30 each to give me 2 X 8 cent discounts on my everyday rewards card. I also purchased two, 2 litre milks for $5 giving me 12 Cents a litre off. I put 60 litres of gas and 40 litres of petrol in my car.

    Total 100 litres x 12 cents = $12.00 off.
    Unleaded = $1.03 a litre with discount
Gas = 0.42 cents a litre with discount

*Gas discount is not available at all stores, ask before you fill.
I Filled up at the Safeway Petrol Station next to Highpoint Shopping Centre West Melbourne

    • What car are you driving? That's a total of 100 litres of fuel and you car's got both gas and petrol… just curious~

      • It's a Mitsubishi Magna 2000 Model V6 3.5 litre, it has a 60 litre gas tank and I would say the fuel tank is about 70 litres. You start the car on petrol and then with the flick of a button your on gas. It's amazing how economical gas is!! 500kms to the tank on the open road and about 380km to the gas tank in the city. You really notice the difference when it only costs $30.00 to fill up the gas in comparison to a $30 tank of petrol getting you 200km. The gas tank is located behind the back seats, so it doesn't jeopardise much of your boot space. I will never buy a petrol car again, unless of course I win Lotto. I should be a salesmen. Well it will be for sale when I leave the country in 3 months for $5000, if anyone in bargain land wants an ultra economical bargain car, please let me know :)

        • So you use petrol just to start the engine? It's going to take you a long time to empty the petrol tank!

        • +1

I have a Mitsubishi Lancer 2L on LPG. Burns 7.9L/100km on petrol in city driving and 9.2L/100km on LPG. Accurately calculated rather than simple km's per tank.

Converted dual fuel cars should be run on petrol about 10% of the time, to avoid the petrol injectors, pump, etc failing due to disuse. My car starts on petrol and runs on petrol until the coolant temperature has reached 40C, where it's enough to easily gasify the LPG for vapour injection. The idea with my car (and I suspect Bargain__Hunter's too) is to have a bit of fuel in your petrol tank. Maybe 20L max. No need to be carrying petrol for weeks or even months before it gets burned. Saves weight too.

I haven't tried filling both tanks at once however. Does that process use one discount voucher or two?

        • I don't know about your exact situation, but a friend of mine with 2 cars in the family takes both cars to the servo and uses the voucher for both fills in one transaction. I think that's the key, one transaction.

        • You start the car on petrol and then with the flick of a button your on gas

If there a reason you do that?

I have had many cars on gas and always start them on gas.

It’s amazing how economical gas is!

I guess you mean economical by the money you save?

I say that because if you are looking at the mileage the gas is not as economical.
You use 20-30% more gas than petrol to travel the same distance

      • Greenpossum- if you have family with 2 cars then most likely you will be spending >$30 again in no time.

        • Well actually I don't and I don't doubt what you say, but I was just commenting for Cluster's sake that you can probably get both cars or both tanks covered by one voucher as long as it's one transaction. That makes sense.

  • Yes cluster, I only start my car on Petrol but I let it warm up for a good 5-10 minutes before switching to gas if the engine is cold. It's true, I won't go through the 40 litres of petrol for about 6 weeks.
I only have to use the one fuel voucher when filling both gas and petrol as long as I pay in one transaction. So yes, you could get a friend to bring down another car and put up to 150 litres in total in two cars and pay in one transaction and only use one fuel voucher.
