They seem to have increased their price on whey protein.
Still not a bad deal if you like the vitamins.

  • Yeah pretty sure it used to be $98~ for 5kgs.

Going back through my orders, I was able to get them for around $64 - $66 for 5KG.

      • Back in April, 2017. So I think to those frugal and patient, there'll be better deals in the future from this store. (screenshot attached)

        • woah that looks insanely cheap 5kg at $66 is $13/kg for WPI?

I haven't bought protein in about a year or so, but WPI at around $20-25/kg was considered a good deal. Has the whey protein powder industry gotten cheaper or something? What am I missing?

      • Well then!

  • What kind of weights are you guys pushing who use this? I’ve tried protein heaps of times, but realistically I don’t notice any real difference over a balanced diet. I weigh 90kg, I’m 182cms tall, I bench sets of 100kg, max is prob ~115kg, dumbbell press the biggest weights at the gym 47.5kg a hand, I curl 40kg on the EZ bar (sets), don’t squat or deadlift because of hiatus hernia, but on the incline leg press (where the weight is on my shoulders), I push 150kg (sets) + whatever the machine weighs (30kg?). I verticals row 42.5kg a hand and seated row 104kg (both sets). I also try and put in chin ups/ pull ups between sets, normally leave the gym having done between 50 and 60. Sometimes I super set too. I don’t fell I need protein supplements, and I feel my routine is decent, I’m stronger than most of the blokes at the gym. So are you guys who are taking this stuff absolute monsters?

You're right in that no one needs protein supplements. If you can get enough protein in your diet there's no reason to get it.

Some (most?) people may find it hard to get enough protein in their diet so protein powder definitely helps. I personally mix mine with yogurt and have it after the gym, so it's become part of my diet. You don't need to be a monster to take protein powder but it's also not going to magically help you build muscle.

Not that it's relevant, but I'm 67kg 175cm, and bench 100kg for sets of 3 and DL 180kg comfortably.

      • I don’t get how much protein you could possibly need. A 100kg bench press for someone who weighs 67kg is insane.

        • I mean, I probably only get an extra 30g of protein a day from powder.

Definitely don't "need" it, but it helps.

Protein shakes are for convenience. Real food is preferable every time.

I cbf having/making a meal right after workouts so a protein shake is good as it is quick and easy.

It doesn't turn you into a monster lol. Just good for recovery and to hit your daily protein intake.

      • Totally agree with all above. As a ozbargainer, generally more economical.

Probably help those most that can't stomach enough protein from food.

        • I think that unless you are a true monster or have a super fast metabolism, you are just going to shit it out.

    • Every day is upper body day
