        • in regards to point 3. What do you mean "remove" the trial and then "activate" please?

in regards to point 3. What do you mean "remove" the trial and then "activate" please?

Well, according to the specs, we get a time-limited trial of McCafe Anti-Virus(AV) software.
In earlier version of Windows (95/98/XP/7/8), windows didn't include any AV software. You have to buy third-party AV products from companies like Kaspersky and McAfee, or rely on dodgy free programs like AVG.

Since Windows 8.1, microsoft includes AV software called Windows Defender. You can still choose to run third-party AV software, and if you do so, Windows will disable the built-in protection.

PC hardware vendors like Dell and Lenovo have deals with companies like McAfee to bundle this time-limited trial AV software, in the hope that you'll enter your credit card details and buy it when the trial ends.

Some people swear by their favourite AV software vendors. I personally don't like any of them. They bog the computer down and don't cooperate with other programs very well. If you use the built-in AV that comes with windows 10, updates will be delivered via windows update, and it will just kind of stay out of your way more than intrusive third-party AV software.

        • Ublock Origin is the best?

        • +1

@congngo: yeah. much better than adblock plus

        • @idonotknowwhy: thank you so much for your reply.

Anyone else not getting the $1199.20 price at checkout? I'm getting a $1499 at checkout & also, the PIXELS code doesn't apply to this deal. Thanks in advance!

    • Just checked it, PIXELS code works for me.

    • Checking out with PayPal?

      • The code applied before selecting a payment option. No=t sure if that changes if you don't select Paypal.

  • Hey guys what anti virus software is everyone using?

    • +2

      Windows Defender

    • Bitdefender

  • Does anyone know if this would be able to run Adobe Creative Cloud well and render video quickly?

    • Yes it should do the job nicely.

  • I've been on the hunt for a gaming pc, guessing this is good value for what it's worth?

Edit: Compared to this deal, which is better for gaming performance/future use in the long run?. Don't mind paying a bit more if the parts are better with another system.

    • +1

This is definitely the better deal. Only drawback is 8gb ram vs 16gb ram, but everything else is superior plus you get an ssd. With the savings you can just purchase another stick of ram and you'll be good to go. Otherwise 8gb ram is plenty if you're just gaming and you could very well stick to that

      • Thanks for the reply.

Do you own this system, would you happen to know if the built in WiFi is good?

        • +1

Hard to comment on that, but on paper it looks good (802.11ac and dual band). Might be better to ask in the discussion thread about this PC (it's on the forum somewhere, too lazy to find it now), and maybe someone who has received the PC can better answer. Sorry!

        • Thanks for replying. Sorry, I've got a couple more questions.

Gaming wise, it performs well in hitting max/ultra setting in todays games?.

Also this is fairly future-proof- can upgrade without worrying the motherboard not be incompatible with some newer parts such as GPU and CPU later down the track?

  • +1

Anyone tell me whether this motherboard would take an NVidia card down the track, for say a GPU upgrade?

    • +1

Yes you'll be able to do that. GPUs aren't like CPUs which rely on sockets, and AMD and Intel have different sockets for that. GPUs be it nVidia or AMD all use PCIe slots so you should be good.

Ordered - time to join the PC master race.
