    John Boston Craft Beer

Isn’t this company owned by Woollies?

    • Just saying: op needs to count in $10 voucher cost too, so actual total is $106.80, 26.70 a case is correct.

Mixed feelings about this one… its 4 cases, but it's a truly awful beer.

    • Anyone can comment on which one or two are better out the pack? Really not willing to stuck with 4 cases.

      • I bought the session IPA and summer ale, they seemed like the better reviewed of the four. Haven't tried them though.

      • I bought the Point Ale 2 weeks back and quite like it. Heaps better than Tooheys or Cascade!

    • Can't you just buy some other beer with the voucher?

      • Oh, they have no other beer

  • Thanks OP, a good beer at a great price.

    • I sure did, $12.22.

      • I did too, and it captured it but these tend to get disallowed if not using an approved voucher code. I guess we will see.

  • John Boston is Woolworths's private label homebrand. I have only seen awful reviews.

    "Craft beer"… no. It's a mass-produced, private-label beer.

Not to say it's not a good price!

    • +2

I was debating whether to include that word :) I took it off, maybe that's safer…

  • I'm no beer snob but didn't mind it - one's impression depends on what beer you're comparing to.

For this price seems to be a good deal, only comparable beer at theis price point is Aldi's range which isn't bad either.

    • Aldi only has lagers though (and one weak "pale ale")

      • I was thinking of the Storm Pale Ale

  • +4

Appreciate the post, as cheap beer is always a good thing.

However, even though it’s used in the marketing, I think it’s disingenuous to call this “craft” beer.

Edit: OP has removed ‘craft’ from title. Go OP!

  • Good deal but postage cost kills the deals for rural areas ($34).

  • How are the ciders?

      Barossa pear cider is excellent!
Bought one case when it first went down to $30, seriously thinking about getting another before the price goes up but there's no best before date on the bottles (there might have been one on the box but I threw it out).

      • Damn, too late. i went 3 apples (seemed to be more reviews on the apple one) and 1 pear. Should have gone 2 and 2 + something else. Oh well.

      • +1

Seconded, I thought it was quite good and steal at $30. Pretty sure the best before was at least a year away too, it wasn't short dated.

      • +1

Best before date on mine from these guys was March 2019 :)

  • Good deal, but all the styles are crap across the board.

    • Session IPA is a fine style; it is just Woolies producing budget-cut crap beer

  • Great deal but check to see your availability for click and collect…. I'm on the North Coast (NSW) and nothing remotely close…..

I mentioned this deal in the original thread! Credit??

I actually found these while browsing around the time of the $30 cider deal, and hadn't seen your comment. Nice find though!

  • Damn, I'm still getting through the 7 slabs of 500ml cans from the last deal!!

    • +1

      Which beers?

      • Guiness, Asahi, Asahi black, ottinger and something else. The ottinger wasnt that good.

        • Is Asahi Black any decent?

    • +1

      Drink more please!

If cellermasters is part of woolies, can you pay the balance by using a wish gift card and get another 5% off?

I wish they had better beer on their site..

  • Damn it let me get all the way through checkout, applying the voucher then suddenly every beer is out of stock.

I don't suppose you can refund these vouchers with Groupon?

    • Sell the voucher to someone who likes wine.

    • You also have until Dec to use it.

I just grabbed the 10 bottles of 2013 red (they all review quite well ranging from $17 - $30 a bottle) with a BONUS bottle of Tanqueray Gin ($40 value)
All up, I'm out of pocket $120 inc voucher cost so pretty cheap decent red for $8 per bottle!

  • It's showing back in stock…just picked up 2 cases and a dozen red for $120 pick up BWS

    • 2 cases of what?

      • Sorry, I knew what I meant! John Boston beer, all varieties were back when ordered
