I know its only $180 but please, don't do this to yourself.
You get what you pay for and at this price, is very very basic..

2GB of ram is barely enough to run Windows 10, let alone anything on top of it.

    • That's what I thought. It should have come with android, then it would have been great. Windows 10 is resource hungry; android would fly.

        android would fly

Not really, not with 2GB of RAM. Most Android phones now come with 3-4GB of RAM minimum.

        • I'm running a Teclast T98 with 2gb ram (Android, not Windows - don't want to confuse anyone into buying this deal) and it is fine for most purposes (haven't used it with games, but ebook reading, casual browsing, iview etc it is good).

But any device I was going to use for more than that I'd want more ram, for sure.

      • Based on this review I wonder if it runs Q4OS. Alternatively, I'd be happy with LinuxMint.

Upgrade path: buy this, complain Windows is crap and justify MacBook Pro purchase. Hand-me-down this to someone you hate masqueraded as gift. Two wins.

But you can capture life's moments on it's 0.3 megapixel camera…

  • Given the price, perhaps only a good option for extended overseas travel, like backpacking. At $180, if it gets stolen it's less devastating than losing a $500-$1k device.

    • For that, I'd choose a cheaper Android tablet and a small (i.e. handheld) bluetooth keyboard for it. Total $140 and it will work much better than this. Probably better battery too.

Or buy a similarly spec'd Chromebook for a similar price and run a similar amount of things without crashing.

But it will load superfast, last forever on a charge and (depending on which one you buy) have a proper premium feel.

32GB EMMC makes this almost useless for running Windows.
There won't be enough free space available to install Windows Updates, and eMMC flash is slooooooooow…

    • Believe me when I say that 32gb eMMC will be the least of your problems here..
No it can't install new windows updates because there isn't enough space but I doubt the 2gb of ram and atom 1.8ghz processor will last any significant update.

not everyone use that much power in pc, i using intel pc stick with same specs like this for watching youtube, streaming video and microsoft word and its run without problem. a phone getting more powerful coz nowaday we using a phone for almost everything and multitasking as well.this netbook is not for everyone but for anyone who do the same thing that i mention above it will fine. i believe the Windows is 32bit its slow when update but it work

  • 2gb of ram is just embarrassing and not enough even for chrome….

    • +7

No amount of RAM is enough for Chrome

  • Might be a good candidate for elementary os (elementary.io)

    Around aud 130.

Low ram is not what is holding this kind of computers back. It’s the processor. If anyone plan to get it, just turn off the advance settings animations etc. Don’t install any other browser and use MS edge. That is again cuz of processor. Even chrome can now do ok with 2gb ram.

Don’t use YouTube.com for YouTube. Install awesome tube from MS store.

my kids were given an ilife zed air which is an atom processor but the rest is similar to this netbook, 2g ram, 32gb rom, integrated graphics and so on.
it gets used for email and web browsing and watching netflix/stan/iview when away from home for the weekend.
it runs windows 10 and I updated from a much older build of windows 10 to creators update, hard drive got close to capacity but had 7gb free when updates completed, deleted install and temp files and now sits at 14gb free.
added a spare 32gb sd card from an old phone for a little extra storage and it plays movie/tv shows from it with no issues.
for a cheap as hell non primary laptop that no one will cry if it gets dropped or trodden on, it does it's job

  • Any good for super light gaming like some esports titles at very low settings?

    • no. unless minesweeper is esport now?

The reason I ask is because the GPD Win has 4gb ram and the faster cpu version of this, the z8750 and z8700 which uses Intel HD graphics 405 and is meant to be able to somehow run some decent games albeit at reduced resolution and settings.

This device has 2gb ram and the z8350 which uses Intel HD graphics 400 so it should hypothetically be able to run the same games albeit at maybe a much lesser resolution or lower settings.

The GPD win goes for around $480 AUD and this device is less than half that price for a very small difference in performance..

This device I reckon is still very costly to me but a lot cheaper than a GPD win and might serve some purpose as a small portable gaming device or game streaming device.

So I am checking my options.
