Kmart Car Insurance - 2500 Bonus Flybuys Points for a Policy, 250 Points for Setup of Reminder

81

Kmart are now offering car insuarance, and for each new policy you get 2500 bonus Flybuys points (I believe on top of your normal entitlement to Flybuys points). Even if you are not interested in their insurance, you do get 250 points for signing up for a reminder for when your insurance is coming up for renewal. I won't comment on how worthwhile 250 Flybuys points are!

  • Apparently this offer started in March earlier this year. Anyone knew about it?

    • Interesting, the email for it only came in 3pm this afternoon

  • duplicate reply

  • There's two words I haven't heard for a long time - Fly Buys

    • Yeah I far prefer the Coles insurance 12c/l fuel bonus, I've already saved over $30 in cold hard cash since I got it, and I've still got 21 vouchers still to go (insured both our cars). This is in addition to the 600bux I saved in premiums over my previous RACV http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/31966

What are the KMart quotes like?

  • Probably should add Fly Buys to the title

    • done :-)

  • Price of the insurance from KTAS and Coles are the same per the Coles Insurance offer that was posted before.

Choose if you want the FlyBuys points worth $20 or if the 12cents off petrol monthly is better for you.

  • Both the coles and kmart insurance are roughly $1000 more expensive a year than my current provider!!!

While I was tempted by both the flybuys and petrol offer i dont think its worth 1k a year.

    • can you please let us know what insurance company you are with at the moment. thanx.

      • Bingle is the cheapest of all. If any company can beat their quote, please let me know :)
coles, kmart, aami, nrma they are all thiefs..

        • Bingle doesnt provide insurance for my car :(

        • Don't forget to check out Budget Direct's $50 cash offer for their lowest price guarantee. It applies even if you don't subscribe to their insurance.

      • Im with Aami at the moment - I have a 2006 Clubsport which is insured for $1100 a year for both my partner and myself (Im under 24). Kmart/Coles absolute minimum when I completed the entire form was $1900 and that was without the car hire and windscreen that I get for free with Aami.

        • Yeah that confirms it, youngsters need not apply, the same thing was raised in the others deals.

Seems with the other insurers, the oldies are subsidising the youngsters. Whereas here we oldies are getting the deals we should be entitled to (having already paid through the nose during our younger years).

EDIT:: by oldies I mean over 30!

  • Nope thats not true either. I just tried only my partner (who is 31) and for the same car and only him driving Kmart was $150 dearer.

The only other thing I can think of is that it is the type of car. so in short if you have ahigh performance car your better off not going with kmart/coles

    • Actually I think they have raised the age limit on the sly anyway. I know when I turned 30 my insurance didn't even change. Now over 35 it has come down a lot.

EDIT: and with that car you should be looking at the coles fuel deal! rather than flybuys.

      • lol - surprisingly its not that bad on fuel especially on the highway but even around town I probably fill up every 9-10days which is on par with my MILs 6cylinder 2004 Magna. The only difference is I normally pay about 15c more per litre :P

I checked coles as well just in case they were any different and unfortunatly it was the same :(
