NBN advice - who do I use for Sydney CBD?

Hi, I am with Optus high-speed unlimited data and can change my contract in two days time. I have a family who is always using the internet for gaming, streaming, chatting etc. I am far from getting the speed they suggested - at one stage is was 2!!! There is continual dropouts and lagging and despite been given a new modem it does not make that much of a difference. Can someone please tell me who I should use without these problems, especially during peak hours. Is Skymesh any good in the Sydney CBD area or do I go with TPG or Telstra or Aussie Broadband? I am disappointed with the unlimited data offer. Many thanks for your help in advance

  • Myrepublic….

They are the best… I used to have same issues as you before…not any more…check it out.

    • Myrepublic are definitely not the best, but for me they do what they advertise.
I'm on FTTN and get 96 down/36 up as well as having my home phone with them for an extra $10 a month.

Not for unlimited, but if you're needing solid rates even during peak hours ( 6.30pm to 10.30pm ) consider Aussie Broadband for NBN. There's an offer soon expiring on November 26th that offers double data allowance for the first 6 months, one month risk free trial even at 100/40 speed profile, no contracts, no setup fees, no penalties to change plans before the billing cycle and a great local support team. The offer code is wpfreetrial and message me if you'd like my referral code.

      Hi LydiaG

Can I please just advise a reminder of the refer a friend policy

Terms of use for Refer A Friend program - this offer is made by Aussie Broadband in good faith, and we ask you not to scam it in any way (or we may remove your ability to access this service). Scamming includes, but is not limited to, publishing your customer code in any public forum, or collecting information from people who don’t know you are using it for this purpose. This includes offering remuneration for the use of referral codes.

  • It depends on your usage patterns, do you know how much data you use a month ? Do you prefer a good connection over massive amounts of data. There is no point changing from unlimited to a limited plan, then finding the plan doesnt give you enough data that you need to use each month.

    TPG

  • Hi, many thanks. Am very confused, as I have read so many differing reviews. The Usage is high between these hours as I have teenage kids and two other adults using it at the peak hours. I prefer good connection and good solid data!!! This building is an old building that has had NBN for the past two years and has many apartments in it. I am not even sure what an average family of my size would need to be honest.

    • Maybe start with a 500GB plan, ideally whomever you select will only shape your connection and not charge excess for hitting your limit. If you do need more data you can always upgrade the plan. If you're in an apartment you'll likely have NBN FTTB connection.

    • Try Aussie Broadband with the one month free code. There's no lock-in so if it doesn't work out, go with someone else. Telstra seem also good but expensive and Telecube are good value and I don't think congested at the moment (based on reading comments).

  • If you want decent performance stop looking at Unlimited Data providers. Aussie Broadband have a good reputation for not allowing CVC bandwidth become over-utilised.

Personally I get full speed 24/7 with Internode NBN so am happy to recommend them.

  • If you want to ensure that you don't experience peak time slowdowns, go with Aussie Broadband or Telstra.
