  For anyone interested, you can still get the Sony 55"ex500 for $1600 delivered by calling 1300 366 644 and asking for the deal.

  However:
  It's a huge pain in the arse to do so.

  There's a 15-20 minute wait on hold before speaking to a human. Then you have to explain the whole "it was advertised as ending on 14th Nov" then they'll "have to check with their supervisor and call you back".

  They don't call back.

  So you have to call again (another 20 minute wait) ask to speak to the original sales rep (another wait while they are found and usually they are "on another call"). Finally, if you're lucky, they'll take your order for the $1600 delivered price.

  But that's not the end of it. "Sometime" in the next day or so, "someone" will call to confirm your order. If you miss the call, it's back again to the 15-20 minute on-hold time and then another 5-10 minute wait for the correct person.

  All in all, it took about an hour all up (over 3 calls) to get the TV for the originally advertised price. It was about $100 cheaper than what I could get haggling at JB HIFI, so it's up to you if you think it's worth the hassle.

  But be warned, after almost an hour in total of listening to Dick Smith's "Jazz" on-hold music, you'll either be homicidal, or suicidal.

      Yeah they had it at Knox City earlier today, at this price, but I decided to go for the 46NX710 instead, cause I wanna ps3 etc.

  Got my EX500 quite late the night it was posted. Got up the next day and realised the page wasn't loading. Checked my order and it said the TV was 'backordered'. Suddenly had visions of sitting around in January still waiting for this thing. Have been re-checking since, and 5 minutes ago it was suddenly listed as shipped. Phew.

    Where abouts are you located?
    I'm just wondering when mine will arrive since I ordered it over the phone so don't get the online updates.
    The lady said 2-5 days so I'm hoping it's 2 so I can enjoy it this weekend!

      Apparently it will be about 2-3 days if you live in Sydney. Maybe 3 days if Melbourne. But this is after it is shipped, and does not include weekends.

  FYI these deals are available in store. Headed down to Marion last night and picked one up myself.

  The DSE Online rep/supervisor never called me back to collect payment/finalise the sale anyway.

    Edit: available in some stores, not all - following the whirlpool thread looks like most in Melbourne don't have the kdl40ex500 for 799!

  I only just got the email telling me my TV was dispatched with a tracking number.

  Although it says it was dispatched yesterday:
  Date delivery dispatched:
  15 Nov 2010

  The online tracking with the consignment note doesn't seem to be up yet though.
