  • First 2 $200 HN GC order successful, new order new card rejected. This could be credit card protection and anti- money laundering action rather than related to this offer.

Ordered 2 x $200 egiftcards online. Received Amex email straigaway re cash back but 10 minutes later, order rejected by HN! I suppose Amex will reverse the credit. Does anyone know if my card is still eligible for this offer for my next purchase from HN with the same card?

    • The question should be when the refund will be credited by HN.

      • You are right! Forgotten about the $400 refund.

        • Better to wait for $100 credit before asking HN for the refund. Just to be safe.

        • @yht:
Update - HN refunded $400 the next day. No sign of Amex credit.

        • @Mario123: At least they have refunded you though. Mine is still hanging there.

        • @Mario123: Did you end up getting the $100 AMEX credit?

    • Why does Harvey Norman care?

      • +2

THey don't like people to get the reward. If the reward is minimal such as less than $10 for buying $400, they probably won't budge.

My online gift cards were rejected however I received email straight away from Amex. Credit applied to my account 2 days later and it has now been taken away.

    • Did you get the refund straight away too?

      • The credit appeared as soon as the payment was cleared i.e. 2 days but it has taken away on 3rd day.

        • Was the credit taken back before refund appears in your account?

Did the same thing, expecting credit to be taken back now. :(

        • @victorheaven: no credit was taken back after it was applied.

        • @Tipu:

          Thanks, that makes sense.

    • Hi Tipu, when the credit was taken away, does the HN offer now appear under your "Saved to Card" offers or have they treated it as being "redeemed"? As I've had multiple orders reviewed, rejected and refunded, and wondering if I can go in store rather than make the orders online, and still get the credit.

      • My online order was rejected but I purchased another gift card afterward within store and I have already received automated credit for that purchase.

        • Ah cool, thanks for that. So what you're saying is AmEx somehow "reactivate" the offer for you after you've been refunded the $400, they've taken the $100 credit away, and then you spend another $400 physically in store? That's really good to know. At what stage did you purchase the gift card in store? After the refund and credit takeaway or in between order rejection and receipt of refund? Thanks heaps mate.

        • @MathNerd: Your understanding is correct and I also confirmed this with Amex via Chat before making in store purchase.

My in store purchase using same card was within a week of Amex taking away $100 credit.

        • @Tipu: Ah, that's good on you, confirming in black and white that the credit still applies. I'm assuming though that no email was received at the time of transaction along the lines of "Thank you for using the Harvey Norman offer"?

        • @MathNerd: Correct no email was received but the credit got applied within 2 business days.

        • @Tipu: That's awesome to hear, thanks so much for your help Tipu.
I'll make sure I follow your steps, that is, get the refund, wait for AmEx to take the credit away, and then go in-store to make the purchases. Can't risk anything.

        • @MathNerd: no worries. Hope it goes well for you

        • @Tipu: Thanks mate. Appreciate it.

        • +1

@MathNerd: I called the amex rep tonight and they said I can not get the credit. Even after I told them HN rejected my purchase for no reason it wasn't a refund.

"Sorry sir the offer was claimed then and we can not reissue it again"

I did get the email saying thanks for using the offer, had the $100 credit provided and then taken away.

Offer no longer in my saved to card offers.

        • @knobbs:

you sure can, i have done it twice.

        • @PissLUR: Hmm maybe I should try another AMEX rep and see what they say. Seems like a few people have still got it to work. Did you still have the offer come up under saved offers or what were the circumstances you had before you purchased the 2nd time?

        • @knobbs:

the offer no longer appear under saved offers.

after there was a 100$ debit.

  • +1

I regret not signing up to this on both my AMEX cards since the thing I want is $600… could've been a sweet bargain!

  • I wonder for those who had gift cards rejected whether Amex offer can then be used on another purchase or if it is then invalid (most likely).

    • I would love to know too.

      • +1

Hi there, see this thread of comments, it looks like we're still eligible for the credits once the orders are refunded :)

        • Thanks. Good to know. I can spend on my Amex again!

I was refused a sell at a store today when I tried to use Amex to buy gift cards.
I have complained via HN facebook and got a reference number for it. I will post the response here once received.

In essence, they try to regulate how their customers choose to set their accounts, which I find rather absurd.

    • Which store?

      • +3

Store manager called around 30 mins ago. Now I can buy gift cards with Amex.

I just came back from the store with a Gift card. All good. No hassles at checkout. It's Melb CBD QV store

        • any gift cards ?

        • Did you receive the email from Amex? and did they record your name?

        • +2

@victorheaven: Received two emails for two cards right away. No, they didn't ask for my name.

    • Can you complain about not being able to buy Visa Vpay as well?

      • Gees, you should have told me that earlier. It seems Vpay is a so much better option.

    • I just went to the harvey Norman Facebook page. All the visitors post are positive… Which makes me think that they delete all negative posts. I wonder if I should try to get giftcards tomorrow. The heat is a bit of a deterrent.

    • C. Transactions that are not eligible
The following transactions are not eligible and will not count towards your spend for the purposes of
      the offer:
 transactions where you do not spend directly with the merchant (for example, if you buy the
      merchant’s goods through a third party department store);
       transactions processed through a third party payment processor (for example, PayPal);
       transactions that are subsequently cancelled or refunded;
 transactions where you buy a gift card, store credit or a voucher.

Gift cards weren't part of the promotion. What was the basis of the complaint?

      • You should still be able to buy them with an Amex regardless of whether or not they are part of the promotion.

We all know in the end you will still get the credit despite the T&Cs.

Hello, can someone tell me how to check if this offer was saved to my bank credit card? is there a link?

    • +1

One quick way is to check your email and search for an email with the subject “Your Harvey Norman Amex Offer is now ready to use”.

    • Log-in to your account online then look under offers.

      • Bank amex account has changed - no need to log in.
So not sure how I check.

  • Hi, has anyone received the cashback by buying the $400 gift card yet? Its been 4 days and no cash back.

    • same, bought mine on tuesday and still no sign of cashback yet

    • I bought a HN gift card and received the cashback.

Ultimately I had to return the GC for a refund because they didn't activate it correctly, but by that point I had spent another $2260 at HN on my card anyway.

    • I got it, thanks all

  • -1

Used it earlier this month at HN, does anyone know why on the AMEX site, it now says "We're sorry, this offer is no longer available, however you can find more great offers below".

Is it a one time use?

    • +1

I think it's because registrations are capped? Those who have already registered should have it 'til 31/12.

      • Wouldn't I have already registered if I used the deal earlier this month?…

  • Just want to confirm guys, do i need to make 1 purchase of $400 or can it be multiple purchases accumulating to $400 to get the credit. Reason being, one of the item that i want to purchase is online only, so i cannot do pickup for all items hence saving on delivery cost. Any advice?

    • +1

      shipster for free delivery.

      multiple purchases are ok.

      • Thanks, I might try shipster.

  • I have my cards registered but havent availed it yet. Keen to buy Apple Watch and Dyson VC. Not sure if I can go at store and ask for split payments? Myself based in Sydney.

  • Anyone able to confirm where they've been successful in purchasing gift cards in the Perth Metro area?

  • Something weird happen on my main and supplementary cards - I saved the offer and now when I login and see it doesnt show under "Saved Offers" tab - I also didnt get email from any of them (including the one I got the credit for). Anyone having the same issue?

    • It happened to me for another offer - PayPal offer. I registered PayPal offer in 2 of my supplementary cards, I checked today and discovered PayPal offer was disappeared from the save section, I have not use the PayPal offer on my supplementary cards yet.

      • Funny thing is, when I chat with AmEx they refused to help. They said I didnt save it in the first place. Next time I am going to screenshot / Print to PDF the page.

  • Spent $400.80 at HN on last Thursday, Received $100 credit today in amex statement. Happy customer.

  • Hi all HN e-gift ok to buy?
    Thanks

    • yes.

  • +2

Thanks OP. I've used all my Amex's now.
HN is a little over-priced, so do the following:

    1. Find what you want to buy on their site.
    2. Search for the product online via Staticice, etc and find a competitor with a cheaper price for the exact same product.
    3. Go the the live-chat on their website, and say:

    "Hi <their probably fake name>,
Could you please price match this for me?
    <link to the competitor's product listing>"

    1. Sit back and wait a few minutes while the ygo and check for you.
    2. They'll give you a URL which expires within 24 hours. Click this and check-out using "Credit Card" (Not amex checkout)

NOTE: I wouldn't try gift-cards, etc this time. I think they're following up and checking as the email says they'll need to verify the purchase.
Same thing happened for my Hilton booking.

VideoPro are selling the QC 35 for $427
    https://www.videopro.com.au/p-11185-bose-qc35-ii-quiet-comfo…

If you get Harvey Norman to price match it and then apply this $100 AMEX deal, you can get it for $327

    Not bad!!

    • That would be the cheapest for the newer qc35 seen on ozbargain wouldn't it

I'm sure youd get a lot of up votes if you posted it!

      • -2

No its not cheapest. Shopmonk sold it for around $250 few months back.

        • I'm pretty sure that was the older qc35

These are newer ones qc35 ii or whatever theyre technically called

        • @hellohello123: Aah ok…Sorry did not know if there are different version for QC35…Thanks.

        • @pyramid:
No worries. I already have my $200 cheaper brand and model that I love. But I'd be all over it if I was in the market

        • @hellohello123: Can I ask what your $200 cheaper ones are?

Looking for some more affordable, good ones for my daughters for watching movies in the plane.

          TIA ☺️

          try the sony ZX770BN
they sell at jb hifi for $300
but on ebay you can usually get them for about $200, espeically with the 5%-10% off deals

its got NC and BT, im no audiophile, but im sure theyre not in the same class as qc35s but at half price I as happy

        • @hellohello123: Thanks heaps! Will check them out

@hellohello123: Thank you! I went to check them out and the pair on display weren't working. Hard to part with $ when you can't try them first 😕 I was very keen to try to. I ended up with the Sennheiser 4.50. Thanks for all your help 😊

      • Because there is price matching involved I don't think it can be posted as a deal. Anyway, if you want to try feel free to do so :)

Videopro have increased the prices to $435 now.

  • Ordered $400 gift card delivered free via shipster..

    reviewed and not accepted.

Thanks for placing your order with us. However after careful review, we have decided to not accept your order. We apologise for any inconvenience.

  • For those trying to order gift card, try $200 this week, $200 next week. Or $100/$300. YMMV

    • Did that work for you?
They cancelled my $400 order for BS "security" reasons and never replied to multiple forms of communication

      • Ring them

    • did this work?

    • Shouldn't we transact min $400 in one transaction?

      • No. "spend $400 or more, in one or more transactions"

  • Can one card can be used multiple times. I mean I already spent 400 $ from my card, can i use it for another transaction and still get 100$ cashback from another transaction

    • Nope.

    • Only $100 credit per card

  • how do i check which amex i registered to the deal?

backstory is i got broken into and had my wallet taken away but only 1 amex was in there but now i cant remember if that amex was the registered one [which has been cancelled now] or the other amex i have in the drawer?
