Just rec'd little packet of 'LED Keychain' thingies

Ordered so long ago I can't remember what to do with them. They look like oversized sim cards. Can anyone enlighten me please? (enlighten - see what I did there.)

    • That's just what 'they' want you to do

  • sounds like those xiaomi led lights for usb ports

i'm waiting till xiaomi have a special on usb ports so i can get a few more

  • Thanks. Will read all those comments. Could that be a potential security problem?

    • Doubtful. All it should be doing is just drawing power from the USB port, no data involved, which would be the security risk.

Any USB is a potential security issue.

No security issues, there is no software in those things, they are small, non-directional LED lights taking only some power from USB port. Those things can not "talk" to your computer.

However I am guessing that you, like many people, responded to something similar to: "5x USB LED Mini Flashlights US $0.07 (AU $0.10) Delivered". Thus you gave your personal details (name, street address, email, possibly phone number as well) to a place in Asia (China?). Personally, when considering a potential security exposure, giving my details in exchange for 10 cents of goods would worry me more than plugging a small torch in USB port.

Soon you'll receive emails from Russian women deeply fascinated by your profile on a website you never heard of. Just send them the airfare and await their arrival at the airport.

  • No offers as yet …

  • Wow, I remember now I ordered a few months ago but never received! Thanks for the reminder haha

  • Just plugged into the black usb at back of desktop. The desktop immediately shut down. Restarted and Malwarebyes was turned off.

It seemed OK yesterday when I tried it in a diff port for 5 mins to test the heating factor.
