Sold 600 packs last night in just 39 minutes. Convinced them to run it again with around 5,000 packs, but note these will start shipping in one week. They're great little gadgets, and extremely bright. I have one permanently on a powerbank. Also great to use at the end of a USB extension lead for those hard-to-get-at places. Restricted to one purchase per Rosegal account. Apply coupon MINIARSE2 at checkout. Coupon will only work with AU IP addresses. Select Flat Rate Shipping and remove Shipping Insurance to avoid additional charges. Use PayPal for buyer protection. Enjoy :)

Got one. Thanks. What's in it for the seller? How do they make money?

    • +6

They don't. Looking to establish themselves on OzB and score new customers in the process :)

      • ahhh now I remember why I have a rosegal account..

    • +14

They get your details which can be sold on elsewhere, also you now have an account and will most likely buy more products when you see deals on them.

    • +1

'Cheap' way of growing their customer database.

    • +13

They make money from those who forget to untick "Insurance" which is 100x the sale price.

      • +1

How? Don't they need to pay something extra at their end to post with insurance?

      • +3

These bastards just charged me with insurance.
I really concerned with PayPal now - authorised one amount and been changed with the bigger one.
How is it possible from paypal side?

        • +4

I'd be lodging a PayPal claim.

        • +3

          And a forum post…

        • +1

Gearbest did the same to me last week when they pulled the code between me authorising the smaller amount and them taking my money… Paypal dispute was resolved in THEIR favour…

        • -1

@Maxx Power: Never dispute with Paypal. Always dispute with CC (which then opens a paypal dispute by default). Burden of proof for the charge to go through is higher.

        • +1

Yeah PayPal seems to have a new web sales flow where you authorize the amount, and are then redirected back to the original seller who can "add" things like shipping and insurance to the bill, or remove promo codes.

        • +2

          @jasonb:

Never dispute with Paypal. Always dispute with CC (which then opens a paypal dispute by default

          It does no such thing.

The best thing to do is first a PayPal claim, and only if that fails then you can do a chargeback.

        • @Scab: Our experiences must be different. Last time I disputed a charge with my bank there was an issue in Paypal resolution centre the next day waiting for the merchant to deal with.
In that instance I got everything back, other people who went straight to Paypal got 50%

        • I did this a couple of days ago too. Just go to your rosegal order and cancel it saying you didn't mean to add the insurance and they'll ask if you want to refund the insurance and keep the order. I'll wait to see if I get my dollar back.

        • @jasonb:

issue in Paypal resolution centre the next day waiting for the merchant to deal with.

That's because PayPal act as an intermediary and liason between the bank and the seller, but it is not a PayPal dispute.

And doing a chargeback first is not the best way, it should only be done after a PayPal claim has failed, then you at least have two layers of protection.

Because once you do a chargeback you can't do a PayPal claim.

        • @Scab: oh yeah, did it straight away.

        • +1

          @Maxx Power:
          Paypal was quick

We've processed your recent claim that someone used your account without
your permission for this transaction, and decided the case in your favour.

        • @Pest85:

We've completed our review of your account and found that your account is secure and has not been accessed by an unauthorized third party. As a result, we've closed your unauthorized transaction claim.

          You were lucky… Well done

        • Must be run by the mafia.

Are you sure you don’t want ‘protection’ insurance?

    • -1

      Built in spyware?

    • -1

Doubt very much any of us will ever see the lights. But the vendor will have 5,600 new emails and addresses. And eventually they will refund you the $.01 .. if you ever bother wasting your time on lodging a claim. Walks like a duck, quacks like a duck…

  • Used them once before, the order never came, but they gave me a refund, let's try again. Thanks TA

    • +3

Just curious… did you actually contact them and demand a 1ct refund?

      • +2

i bought previously a set of brushes, it was around 2 USD, and yes, I did…

        • +2

Dont think theres anything wrong with that if its 2 usd

        • @worrierwan: I thought so…

        • +4

Nothing wrong if it were 1c?

        • @worrierwan:
          Absolutely not, no.
I was just wondering, because I'd most likely be too lazy to even send an email for 1 cent.
I still understand why some people are not :)

  • +15

dont forget to activate your CashRewards..

    • +4

Yeah you get a solid 5% cashback on $0.01 USD

      • +7

You know, if you got 5% of $0.01USD from every single person on the planet you'd have >$66.5 million

        • +4

You'd spend $66.5 million, but only get some $3 million in cash back.
Still a good deal, if you happen to need 35 billion USB lights :)

  • Thanks Tighty, didn't need these, but can't say no for 2c…

  • there we go, i paid 1 dollor insurence! :(

    • +3

Next time read OP first :)

    • +3

I feel for you and your lost 500x flashlights value.

      • i went turbo mode.

  • +9

Their checkout is very deceptive: it shows your (lower) payment then adds on insurance after you've viewed your Paypal costs. Shifty.

I bet that gets enough people. Otherwise, very cheap.

    • Got me too, paid US$1 for insurance :(

  • thanks Scored 1 set

  • Whats the practical use of these !! Have got some - not sure what they are useful for !

    • +1

I keep one with a powerbank (and a bunch of cables & adaptors). It might come in handy some day as a backup torch

      • ok - will be interesting to hear what other folks are using it for !

        • +1

Occasionally mount one to one of those flexible usb gooseneck things as a low-watt reading (and project) light.

    • +2

I have one in a powerboard in the lounge, wife goes to bed earlier than I and likes lights off so this is a very handy night light to see what I'm doing when there is no TV glow.

….and TA, another 5000 of those upmarket Xaomi "stick" USB lights would be handy puuurrrleeezzze

      • +1 for the stick lights. I need more and that powerboard idea is great. I wonder how long they can be used for? Do they get hot? Would they be any good for a night light?

        • +1

At a guess the tiny simple light would last a heck of a long time, can't see them drawing much. I've only had mine in for 4 hours at the longest and was a no threat gently warm only…others have mentioned heat is an issue so maybe it all depends on your little USB's makeup and the power it is getting???

If the "they" was a stick light, they have multiple output settings. On dim I'd reckon they would last days on a charged up powerbank….dim is only a just seeing light though, not a work/read light….but the dim is my idea of a "night light".

All conjecture on my point, Google is your friend if no better responses here.

        • +1

I got mine yesterday from the last deal with Rosegal. Have a couple plugged into wall USB sockets. They are pretty bright for the size and price. Was just slightly warm after 12+ hours.

        • @mikstylo: Thanks for coming back and commenting. I'll keep an eye out for more.

    • +1

I live in cyclone country and have the Xiaomi power-banks and the led light stems so we can keep our phones working and some light for night time if we loose power. It worked well last year when we had a 4 day blackout. That and all the 3/4 refilled water bottles in my freezer saved my sanity and my food. I'd suggest they are great to keep in your bug-out-cyclone-zombie-apocalypse-bag

  • +7

Great! Spending up big this week. That's $0.06 I've spent now on this and those flying helicopter things yesterday.

    • +4

Yes but how much did you get back in Cashrewards?

  • +1

    Ta, TA.

    • -2

      Bye BYE.

  • +1

Dangit, ordered and i missed the insurance prompt. $1.01. Oh well still cheap in the grand scheme of things

    • Me too. Darn sneaky!

  • +1

Just a note, please be aware the connection to the web site is insecure and not encrypted,

just a warning when inputting email addresses, "common" passwords ect.

    • Login pages, shopping cart and checkout are all secured.

      • Just had a look on Chrome, is secure there, but not on Firefox. ?

        Maybe just a glitch.

        • I've been hearing that all week - Firefox reporting some sites not to be secure when they are, e.g. commbank.

        • Been thinking of changing to Chrome, now might be the time to jump.

  • You can't get Gearbest to do a similar deal?
By the time I finish signing up and entering details they'll all be gone LOL.

  • +1

Not sure what I am going to do with them. But 2c!

  • +3

As pleased as I am to finally be able to order a set of these on special, I can't help but feel the sense of achievement is diluted by the fact there are nearly 10 times more available this time around. Never mind…thanks, TA!

  • got some thanks.

  • What do you guys use them for? I have a few spare.

    • +4

I use them when it's dark, so I can see.

    • I use them in crawlspaces and camping hooked up to power banks.

I see this deal coming up time and time again, finally bought, and didn't fall into the Insurance trap. Now to see if I ever end up getting this delivery or not!

Woah, these guys have some bad reviews, enough for WOT to list it as a priority.
I do want more for a project but I think ill wait for gearbest or alike to do another round.

  • I can't put the code in. It won't take on my phone and the voucher section won't come up on my PC.

    Edit: disregard. User error.

  • Anyone tried home automation with these, somehow? I'd like to add them but have little idea how.

    • +1

WeMo power plug with this plugged into it

  • Finally scored these tiny lights! Makes me feel like I got one up on the man. I might be broken. Thanks TA

  • Anyone know how many can I buy? No point just getting one. I want to get 10 lots but if it charge me full price them I'm in trouble.

  • code just expired

  • Wow! Even with 5000 packs, I still missed out. These must be the new Eneloops.

    • Code is still working - just got one then.

  • Even though this is cheap. Be warned of their reputation. See link below.
