Pears Transparent Glycerine Soap - Box of 3 Bars $3 (Was $6) @ Coles

150

The popular soap bar is at the special price in Coles this week. Was $6. Last time they were at this price in the last week of Aug (Woolies) and the first week of Sep (Coles). Not very often so cheap, so good to grab stock worth a few weeks! :)

Some highlights:

  • Enriched with pure glycerine and natural oils that gently moisturise skin
  • Very good and unique fragrance
  • Heritage brand of British origin for over 200 years. If you have never used it, check Pears on Wikipedia - Quite popular as a quality soap in India and many other countries

If you use liquid body wash, try this once and you might not go back to body wash again! Worth trying once for sure, anyway.

Thanks, that one is my favorite for long time.

  • Use this to wash my dog.

    • There are special 'dog soaps' available in the market. You don't need to use a human soap for your dog. Give it what it deserves.

      • This soap is actually good for a dog, it doesn't strip the oil from their fur or affect their PH.

Castile and glycerin soap are fine for doggies.

        • Makes sense. Cheers, mate!

This soap causes skin rash on people with sensitive skin. My wife was covered in a nasty for days after using it once.

    • Doesn't every soap do it on people with sensitive skin or is it specific to glycerin soap?

  • Not very often

It's actually half price quite often.

Have they stopped making the green one? I can't find it anywhere lately.

  • My skin feels dry after using this :(

Dry after using a glycerin soap? You shouldn't ever try normal soaps then.

      • No idea… Just feels strange. Same with dove soap!

Old news but might be relevant to people with sensitive skin especially

Not old enough for you JV?

I googled because I inherited very dry skin which needs regular moisturising. Found that link, checked the current ingredient list and it's very similar. So Pears ain't apples for me. Ymmv.

    • Why something so simple has to be so… complicated.

I don't think the original formulation ever came back. If you check the ingredients list for both the UK and Australia you'll see that they both have the new ingredients as listed in that Telegraph article.

I stopped buying it way back in 2009/2010 when I noticed the change. They definitely ruined it.

      • What's funny is that Sainsbury's regular price for the soap (even in AUD) is much cheaper than its regular price in our stores here when not on special price. Why do our stores have to be so expensive!
