Upgrading Dell XPS 8930

Hi all,

I am looking at buying my first desktop and considering Dell XPS 8930 for $1499 (possibly even cheaper with the upcoming sales period), which has Intel® Core™ i7-8700 Processor, 8GB memory, GT 1030 & 1TB hard drive (http://www.dell.com/p/xps-8930-desktop/pd?c=au&l=en&s=dhs).

Since I am absolutely novice in building the desktops, the questions could sound quite simple: would it be possible to add another 8GB of memory and 256GB SSD by myself and what would it require and how much would it cost? In other words, can I avoid paying premiums for the same inbuilt options of the range (I don't need a better video card (not a gamer) or more HD space)?

Thanks

This desktop from this deal will cost you $60 dollars less and will already have enough RAM and high-speed storage without the need for spending even more money on upgrades.

If you want to upgrade that system anyway, RAM is not cheap due to extremely bad RAM shortage supply. What used to cost $70~80 now costs double..

    8 GB of DDR4 2400mhz RAM costs $139 dollars.

    SSD's are around $135 for 250gb

  • Yes you will be able to upgrade with no issues, as this setup has slots enough to upgrades.

  • If you want to upgrade to ssd and keep the hdd. Make sure you purchase an extra data cable. Also install windows to the ssd for faster boot speeds.
