less than half as loud as most standard fans

that sounds so scientific and believable…

will be either really noisy or broken in 12 months

        or broken in 12 months

        12 months and 1 day…

    26 speeds

    Needs more speeds.

  • It is similar to https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/337676. To me, its just a rebadge fan. I own 2 of this https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/ronson-40cm-pedestal-fan-rdcp… which was bought for $129 each on boxing day 2016. Having used it, I must say they are pretty good and quiet.

"less than half as loud as most standard fans

almost as good as "DC motor offers greater energy efficiency – up to 65% less than a standard AC fan"

  • smart

  • I've got two of these. One branded Midea (2yr warranty) and one Kogan (1yr warranty). Both exactly the same. Nice and quiet for the bedroom.

    • In your opinion are these worth is over the cheapo fans from bunnings etc?

      • For me yes as i am a light sleeper. I didn't buy it for the energy savings but for the quiet noise and remote. It has so many speed settings compared to just 3-4 which is awesome.
I bought a 2nd one because Kogan had this sale a couple of weeks ago with a $20 kogan voucher and $20 bday voucher, so i paid $79.

      • It is worth it in my opinion. With 2 similar models, the amount of wind generated is definitely better than the elchepo models.

"efficiency – up to 65% less than a standard AC fan"

So does this fan give us 700% more financial efficiency?

      • +3

Mate, no joke, I bought this a while ago, how can I explain, it defies physics. The fan is blowing at max speed, there is no air coming out the front, only a slight wind around the edges. Never seen this before. I mean full tilt, no air is coming towards the front.

        • SHRUG. my two works like a gem since buying them two days back lol

        • Blade on backwards, or the motor is spinning the wrong way for the blade that you have. https://i.stack.imgur.com/lrpB8.jpg

      • Second hand, but $0.99 if you're lucky ;-)

        • not new henny

  • DC motor offers greater energy efficiency – up to 65% less than a standard AC fan

A fan uses what, a few cents an hour to run?? Will need this fan to last a hell of a long time to make up for the steep price.

    • Not even that.

this is 28w (so ~36hrs to use 1kWh)
      Bunning/kmart $12 is 45w (so ~22hrs to use 1kWh)

If you pay 25c/kWh for your lecky, it'll take a long time to make up that $107

  • If, as Wantone says, this Kogan fan is identical to the Midea stand fan (visually looks to be so) which retails at $89, then this is not a bargain. The Midea Stand Fan FS40-11NR topped Choice's latest round of (admittedly quite limited) pedestal and tower fan reviews: https://www.choice.com.au/home-and-living/cooling/fans/revie…
