They don't specify width fit on the site. I think DJ's only sell RM's in the regular width G. But a good price and I guess easy store returns if size not right.

I've seen people wearing what appear to be RM Williams in a dark brown colour, almost between brown and black.
However RM Williams don't seem to actually have any colour like this. The darkest brown (Chestnut?) is still brown-brown and the black is well, black.
Any tips here? Are these not RM Williams? Are they black that have faded? Are they brown with a darker polish? Is it just lighting?

I think the chestnut used to be a lot darker a few years ago than it is nowadays. I went to a store the other day and saw one of the chestnut coloured shoes had a strange almost purple tinge.
I think this is the most likely explanation and you're right there is a weird purple tinge on the Chestnut now.
If you build a custom boot and select Willow leather in Black it's close to what I used to see. link but who knows if it's just colours displayed on screen playing tricks.
I'm 99% sure they were RM Williams. The other difference is the toe seemed to be flatter, I know there are a few different toe styles but none of them seem as low/flat as they used to be.

Plenty of other brands around that look very similar (it is a common "style")
The give away is the stitching - RM boots are made from a single piece of leather, so you won't see stitching around the sides etc where multiple pieces are joined together.
RM Williams have seasonal colours that are a limited offer for that season, so it's possible that these are what you saw
