B&H's DealZone (Deal of the Day) today includes the LensCoat RainCoat in black, in sizes small, medium and large. These seem pretty popular as rain covers for DSLRs and mirrorless cameras with a longish lens. Each product page has a list of Q&As and Reviews that'll help work out what size suits your camera setup best. I haven't used these rain covers myself as they've never been cheap enough for me to be tempted, but this is the best price I've seen (I use FotoSharp PRO rain covers).

The medium and large sizes are best value in this deal. Ends tomorrow 3pm AEST.

Delivery of one to Queensland was estimated as $13.26 US (~ $17.46 AUD), and prices for each size are below:

  • Small for camera/lens combo up to 10" is $26.99 US (~ $35.54 AUD) save $13.00 US plus delivery
  • Medium for camera lens combo up to 15" is $29.99 US (~ $39.49 AUD) save $30.00 US plus delivery
  • Large for camera lens/combo up to 21" is $39.99 US (~ $52.66 AUD) save $30.00 US plus delivery

You can also add-on a LensCoat RainCap for $9.99 US (~ $13.15 AUD) save $10.00 US. This sits over the lens protecting it from rain when you aren't using the camera, probably most use if you have the lens sitting on a tripod in the weather.

  • Thanks, bought the medium size and cap.

  • I wonder how hard it would be to make one of these from an existing raincoat with a bit of sewing / gluing? Personally I just use large ziplock bags when I was worry about rain on my camera and I can still use the dials through the bag and see the screen and the lens can look out the open end. Then I can seal the bag as extra protection inside my camera bag if the weather is really inclement.

    • Yeah plastic bags can work well and way cheaper.

The benefit of the actual rain covers is usually that the fabric is more rugged, the seams are sealed, they've got the elastic at the front at a good size for a lens hood, velcro where it should be, and for ones like this they have the sewn gap at the bottom to fit tripod/hand access. Depends what you're after.

These rain covers being black inside can also shield the rear screen to make it easier to see in bright light.
