Hi Team,

First time poster.

I've been keeping an eye on this on Amazon via Camelcamelcamel and also B&H and this is the best price I've seen historically.

A few US sites like Bestbuy are matching this price now (no idea on delivery though - prefer to use B&H). One Amazon seller comes close - but unless you use a freight forwarder.

Great Chromebook - already have one in use at work in a customer facing environment where customers autograph using the included stylus. Both staff and customers love it - well built unit and the 4:3 aspect ratio screen is great. Only annoyance is squashed backspace key.

Also the only Chromebook that has palm rejection via the stylus.

Overall it works a treat so we're getting another. Tried a ASUS C100PA and it's touchscreen was pretty hopeless - cheaper though.

I was tossing up between this and the Pro, went with the Pro.

  • Great price for Chromebook Plus however RK3399/OP1 might not be performant enough to drive that screen.

  • Amazon has it for US $349+$13.96 postage to AU.

    • Delivered direct to Australia, or via freight forwarder? Care to share a link?

I checked before I posted and it was US$353 delivered US only.

    • Isn't Amazon supposed to release 2pm today in Australia?

      • Yes, however, maynot have Chromebooks to begin with, and/or when/if does may/maynot have full range, and, maybe much more expensive.

Time will what we get and at what price.

Yeah I reckon it's well worth the wait though. Even until Friday morning. Surely people can hold off until then.

  • Looking at the Samsung Chromebook 3. Mainly to have a standalone device for online banking and share trading. Any idea if it would be suitable?

As @go2home suggested, works out US$363del ~ AU$480, maybe a bit more but amazon deal looks good.

  • I have one of these - it's great.

  • Have one, the keyboard is really mushy and hard to touch type at speed. No backlight on the keyboard is also a bit of a throwback.

Screen etc is fantastic, Spen is a gimmick in my opinion.

Also using such a large heavy screen as a tablet … not sure about that. It is great however in tent or reverse mode to watch media or surf aimlessly.

Could do with 8GB of RAM in my opinion … Chrome eats 4GB for breakfast. Not sure how much impact the rockchip is having on performance.

Play store apps still random .. eg seems that any app using multicast for discovery doesn't work (a month ago that was)

    Cheers
