Tablet for kids?

I've been looking to get a tablet for our kids, but don't know what to get? The Pendo pad seems a bit dodgy, and the Lenovo Tab 3 and Onda V80 perhaps too high spec (expensive). Any middle ground or a cheaper place to get these from?

What is your budget? iPads are $400 now. I've tried the cheaper ones but none have really lived up to expectations, kids didnt use them as much and in the end the Ipad was superior

    • Budget is sub $100. High probability that it will be dropped/smashed at some point so reluctant to spend too much. Probably going to be used for apps and taking random photos of the ground

I bought an iPad for my 6 year old. He understand the consequences and looks after it very well.

        • second hand ipad. you can get a 1 or 2 for that price on ebay. but bear in mind newer apps may not work as those are some what outmoded. but will be fine for kids.

        • I bought one for my nephew, I warned him that Santa wouldn't come down the chimney next year if he broke it. He replied "We don't have a chimney" Owned.

        • @GetOffMyUnicorn: Don't you know that Santa comes in through the aircon vents in newer houses?

      • Sub $100?? At that price might as well browse chinese websites and buy no name brands. There's no way you could get anything useful at that price.

Or go to eBay and get second hand ones from $150-200

  • As much as I’d like to buy my kids iPads, I just can’t afford it. I’ve just seen the Harvey Norman catalogue, and there’s a Neos Flek 7” 8gb tablet for $48. Any thoughts on these? Or anything else out there that might pop up in the sales?

  • Aldi had a tablet on sale yesterday for $99.99..

  • Are the Samsung tab A8 any good? They are $229 in target catalogue but not sure if better off paying more for an ipad

  • Surely must be a bargain somewhere in these sales but I can't find any. Any tips?
