Got a "countdown" email from Cashrewards that Lenovo are doing sales on a variety of their laptops for Black Friday

There are sales currently for a "pre-Black Friday" period, I am hoping that they throw down some more deals when the clock ticks over to midnight as advertised in the flyer

Looks like the promo code may be needed, it's plastered all over the site but I added it just in case.

Amused by the price change for ThinkPad E470:

00:19AM: black Friday sale: Starting at: $1,399.00

That's illegal. If you have an archive link of it you could send it off to the ACCC. Or even if you don't, you could tell them what happened and they'd probably start monitoring Lenovo's """sales""" themselves.

It seems like so many companies are doing this crap with their "sales" and, unless we complain, nothing will get done.

      • Just a guess, Lenovo have had 30% this week which ended last night and upto 45% started today.
So probably went back to original price and then applied the new UPTO 45% off today

    • The one in the Pre-Black Friday sale had lower specs. It was i5 and the one thats up now is i7.

Nothing special at $1069 for E570, considering it will be superseded any day now
More expensive than this deal from 7 months ago at $977

Unless the prices have not been updated completely, this is not a significant sale. Most discounts are for previous gen models which were cheaper during the eofy sale. There are a few latest gen deals, however the starting configurations aren't too impressive considering the cost. Hopefully they do have further sales in the next two days

  • Will be holding out for something better. Anyone know how to find out if you registered for the Lenovo Amex offer now you cant log in to Amex Connect to see your account?

  • Excellent price for the i7 Yoga Gen 2. Just pulled the trigger for my wife. I'm a reseller and my BUY price is over $2400. Maybe I should buy some more to put on my shelves?

Word of warning if you're considering - get the $100 upgrade to the nvme solid state drive the SATA 3 one is pretty dismal for speed.

    Thanks OP nice find!

  • I really considered the yoga X1 gen2. But without a OLED screen option I just can't do the upgrade. If it was gen 8 intel U CPU like a i7-8550u I might but it's only gen 7.

    • Valid points and certainly OLED would be nice in fact I'm surprised at the slow uptake of the manufacturers. It is funny to hear you say "ONLY gen 7" though as if it's ancient. They were ONLY launched Q1 this year.

Don't get me wrong I'm aware of the extra cores and 22% or more speed increase just amazing how we're throwing away "old" tech after only 11 months nowadays! lol

Luckily the way my wife uses a WinTel machine, the SSD will bottleneck before the CPU does.

  • Yeah, not such old tech. Just going with my current yoga specs the new CPU would be 44% faster over my 4th gen. A 8550u would be another 22% on top of that, the speed jump from 7th to 8th is more significant than other generation jumps. It's still temping tho. I'll get my GST back as well if I purchase so more OzBargain goodness…
