Voll voll voll. Effectively making it 20% off their eBay prices. What more can one ask for ey?

Enjoying my b44 + s6 + mx3 combo at home. Thinking of getting a set of a44 for work and possibly other rooms at home.

  • Are these any good?

    • Look up some reviews rather than take my word for it, but i've had these for about a year and they're a very good for the price. Note that you'll need to buy an amp to power these as they are passive.

    • This not just any good. This is pretty much the bang for your buck, at least to me it is. I had a swan m10 before and after purchasing voll, my m10 has been collecting dust. Amazing little set of speakers

    Nice work SteveAndBelle!

I wasn't going to post because I didn't want to spam OzBargain constantly with Voll deals. (even though it's probably only 2-3 times a year)

I got a bit lazy and just applied the 10% off blindly so there are actually some very good deals to be had on amps in our store - pretty sure some will be below our cost once eBay fees and shipping are taken into account.

    • … and it disappeared from the 'New Deals' list as quick as it appeared ;)

    • I forgot which Amp I was looking at last time you had these on sale (when they sold out before I could buy).
What Amp would you suggest to use these as PC speakers?

      • +1

Reckon it’s the topping mx3 mate. That one was selling so quick on preorder. Great amp and connectivity options

      • +1

It really depends on what features you're looking for.

The MX3 is the cheapest full featured amp we sell so it's the easiest answer generally.

If you don't need analogue input (RCA/3.5mm) or headphone output then I'd recommend the Topping VX2, I forgot to include it in the eBay sale but have dropped the price by roughly 10% as well:

        https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/322900619500

The VX2 has plenty of power for desktop use and due to its fully digital design is almost completely hiss free - it also has lots of digital input options.

The VX3 is a good value amp if you want headphone output and also has bluetooth, again for some reason it didn't get included in the sale but I've dropped it by 10% also:

        https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Topping-VX3-Bluetooth-Amplifier-…

If you want an amp with the most features then I'd look at either the MX3, Q5 Pro or AD18 depending on exactly what you require. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

        • Thanks, I suspect the MX3 is the way to go.
My car has been at the mechanics for a week, so if I have any $'s left when I pick it up and if you've not sold out, will grab them tonight.

BTW: Given the feedback & reputation, I don't think posting your own bargains 2-3 times a year is a bad thing.

        • Would the SMSL SA-36A be a suitable replacement for a Harmon Kardon HK3250?
          I am driving a pair of B&W DM302 (8 ohms).

The speakers still sound sweet but the amp has developed a slight hum.
Or would I be better off replacing the speakers a well?

        • +1

          @kogi:

Wouldn't recommend the SA-36A for 8 ohm speakers you'll probably find that it wont be able to drive them loud enough.

Any of the other amps that we sell would be fine though (except the VX1).

  • I use a set of B44s, an earlier version of the SMSL SA-98E Amp, a Behringer PP400 preamp and a Sherwood PM9805.

Think the total cost was about $445 and it was by far the best 'entry level' turntable set up I could find.

The Voll gear is brilliant! Speakers are incredibly strong and both the Amp and Speakers have not missed a single beat since their install, the amp itself doesn't even seem to get hot when driven hard for an extended time.
Also got them to whip up 2m speaker cables for me that came in with good quality and still work perfect.

Couldn't recommend their gear enough (and their post sale support/general audio knowledge is great if needed too!)

Just confirming as with last time if you order an amplifier and pair of b44s in the same order we'll automatically include speaker cables.

  • guys, I have a question. I noticed the other day that one of my kids has "accidentally" pushed in the black-ping-pong-ball thingy on one of the speakers.

I don't notice any sound difference (does it affect the sound at all?) but anyway, I can't figure out a way to "un-pop" it.

Can you give me any hints and tips?

    cheers

On the woofer? (the larger speaker).

If so that's the dust cap, its main purpose is to prevent crap getting into the voice coil. You can quite effectively pull it back out using a vacuum cleaner, just do it very quick and don't hold it in place too long.

There's some other tips here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o15ISAHOSkQ

Dust caps are a complete kid magnet, I don't know what it is about them but my kids are constantly wanting to push them in.

      • Thanks, yes on the woofer. I'll try the vacuum trick! Have a good weekend.

  • Would something like a Topping VX1 perform better with these than my current Muse M20 EX2 TA2020? Or how about compared to the A44 package?

    • +1

I don't think the VX1 much better, certainly not worth the upgrade as it's a fairly old and underpowered design. The VX3/VX2s are much newer, more power and better.

The MX3 is a much better option with all the features of the VX1 and more.

The Muse M20 will work OK with our B44s but you'd ideally want a bit more power. For those on a budget we are going to be selling a more powerful budget amp (around $50) soon (in 1-2 weeks), no further details at this stage though.

The A44s integrated amp is better than the VX1 / TA2020 for driving our speakers.

      • Hey chiefbodge, how will the $50 budget amp compare against the topping Mx3? I was planning to buy the mx3 + b44s + s6 but now that you have mentioned the budget amp I'm curious

        • +1

it will only be comparable in power output, it's a basic amp with only single RCA inputs and a volume control on the front. It will also use cheaper components. It will be a good no frills amp for those that want more power / clarity than the lepai amps that people buy for a similar price.

        • @chiefbodge:
Thanks for the advice as always chiefbodge 🙂

  • How much do these little amps heat up? Am considering swapping out my 4ch stereo receiver with 4 amps and 4 chrome cast audios… to be honest my only peeve with my current one is that it goes to sleep after x hours so I need to get up if I want to cast to it… how do these go if always left on?

    • Very sorry that I missed your question. The amplifiers that we sell are very efficient. They run very cool, especially when idling without any signal (they wont even get warm when idling). They wont go into standby and you can safely leave them on.

  • Its charging me $15 for postage ? How to get the $105 shipped as in the title?

What to do.. go ahead with $15 postage paid and hope rep refunds it in line with this post?

    • Hi Mr Mrrtn,

We unfortunately don't have free postage Australia wide, due to the bulky nature of our items we have to charge shipping for rural locations.

Because a rep didn't write the post it wasn't mentioned - sorry about that.

If you like you can buy now and if it turns out that the shipping to your specific area is cheaper I would happy to offer a refund on that amount, or a full refund if you'd prefer. (eBay's shipping restrictions are fairly limited and sometimes we find our courier is affordable to a given area even though eBay thinks it's not).

      • thanks, I was just reading that on your website

        Its for postcode 4560 QLD

For anyone who is interested we have just received stock / finished testing a new amplifier.

    Details available here: https://voll.com.au/product/breeze-audio-250w-class-d-amplif…

These don't have the same build quality as the Topping / SMSL (as evident by the screen printed "SPERKERS" instead of "SPEAKERS"). They don't use quality caps / other components like the Toppings / SMSL.

But I will say that they blew me away with the sound quality for the price.

I believe this is clearly the amp to get at this price point. It's so much better than the LEPY/LEPAI at a similar price.

We're offering $5 off these for a limited time. You can get these cheaper from Aliexpress (unfortunately unavoidable due to having to add GST/warranty/shipping). That said the price with comparable AC adaptor is only around $3 different.

If you are considering a LEPY/LEPAI amp for our B44s I would strongly urge you to give the Breeze Audio a go instead (either from us or from Aliexpress).
