Why not? Apple paid them enough for free advertising. Lol. Of course should be free on this platform.

    • Also free for the other platform, I assume they got paid for that too, silly?

I thought this app helps geeks to do a bench press.

    • Do you even lift, bro?!

On a serious note… never understood the point on benchmarking a system that can't be under/overclocked, and there are like '10' varieties. So '10' tests, and the world knows.

      • It'd be pretty useful if your phone was benching substantially lower than the 'reference' Geekbench. But the app doesn't just do CPU+GPU, there's also a battery benchmark.

      • In addition to what SteveBuscemi said, not all devices bench exactly the same, and then there’s the fact that benches can change entirely depending on other factors such as temperature, altitude etc.

  • Thanks! Hadn't realised this was a paid app. Glad i could get it for free.

Looked up with this app is - "Geekbench 4 measures your system's power and tells you whether your computer is ready to roar. How strong is your mobile device or desktop computer? How will it perform when push comes to crunch?"

I understand why people benchmark for PC's but I'm not sure what the point is for the average mobile device user? Install a new app and then check that it isn't bogging down your device too much?

    • This is my thinking, there maybe a need on Android with all their custom ROMs, but one of the major benefits of Apple is platform stability. What can the variation between the same models with the same iOS version be?

  • No idea why this is on iOS… pretty certain just browsing the results would be enough for iOS users.

Unless we all run an undiscovered tech blog :D

  • You can look up the Geekbench scores for your model iPhone on the Internet. But I guess it's still nice to have?

  • No longer free.
