Had both bes920 and em7100, find that bes920 gives more precise brewing if u spend time tinkering with it, but em7100's volume base brewing and built in steam thermometer much easier to use. I do think bes920's brew taste better, but i havent spend enough time with em7100 to make the most out of it yet. Good machine for reasonable price, shame that it doesnt match previous em7000's $400 price.

    • +10 for you. Been watching both of those and following comments for a few months now. Missed the em7000 $400 deal by a day and despite harassing GG staff they wouldn't cut a deal even close. Held out and after many comments went for the BES920 and stole it for $640.

But yeah that $400 was incredible.

Now the jury's out on water filtration for the BES and whether its a good idea given the built in ion exchanger.. what do you generally do?

Also if you were me and suddenly the EM7100 dropped to <$400 would you buy?

      • Not at a level to tell the taste difference by water quality, so pretty much just tap water n maintain the machine by the books.
Also i wouldnt buy EM7100 anymore… coz i already bought it!
It was actually on sale in the good guys last week for 479, while em7000 was 478. Didnt post it on OZB, coz its in store only and minimal stock available. Plus when i saw it its 15 mins from shop closing.

        • Ah I see. For under $400 I reckon I'd buy it for the pod novelty and as a backup machine. It's not plumb-able is it from what I gather?
