WD 8TB Red (NAS) from Shopping Express Is a Good Deal?

Hi bargain master and fellow data hoarders…

I'm in Victoria and after a WD Red 8TB for my NAS, and my preference is to get it local (for warranty purposes).
I found this deal from Shopping Express Ebay.

With the RRP of $439 (free shipping) and combined with the following deals:
- Shopping express 10% deal (make it down to $395.1)
- P5OZZIE: 5% off ebay (make it down to $375.345)
- cashrewards: 1% ebay (make it down to $371.60)

I suspect this deal is not too bad? The cheapest one local from staticice is from warehouse1 but I'm reluctanct to buy this from them, due to bad reviews I found here

What do you guys think?

    There has been multiple 20% off ebay deals the last 2 months, ideally you want that 20% off, ebay prices arent the best without it usually.
    If you goto shopping expresses retail site, its $383 pp.

    I managed to snag one of these as a certified WD refurb, from address was from WD, and HD Sentinel gave me perfect stats on it, got it for $300 delivered. 8TB WD Gold FTW.

      Nice! But a bit overkill for me as I will run it 24x7, I guess having it 5400rpm will reduce its power consumption a bit

        WD RED 8TB, Read/Write 6.4W, idle 5.2W
        WD Gold 8TB, Read/Write 7.2W, idle 5.1W

        So pretty close. Assuming you write 24/7, it would cost you about $1.70 a year more to run the WD Gold.

        I just love the sustained 200MB/s sustained write speed of the WD Gold.

      Just noticed the link you provided for the gold version is US, would WD honour the warranty?

        Most likely not. Would have to be pretty damn unlucky to get a dud Datacentre drive.
