A silly question, but are these to be used with a guitar amp?
Nah. A headphone amp. Just google it. Normal computers don't output enough power to run some headphones to their full potential. A powered headphone amp allows you to do that.
Is there somewhere we could get a good pair of velour pads? Not sure eBay is gonna get me anything better than car cushions for ears
I think these have the same size as the AKG K240/241/270/271, so that'll probably help you on your search. I actually use the velour pads that came with the Superlux HD681EVO which are comfortable.
This looks very AKG, its ear pad might even fit into my 271s
Nah its more Audio Technica AD series.
I think this is the same as Samson SR850 - had them in the past, they sounded amazing especially for the price. Not the most comfy though
I actually own these and they are fantastic. Very balanced. 56 ohms though so you might want an amp to drive these. If you’re a bass head do not get these. If you plan on using them anywhere other than home/studio do not get these. They are basically open back so it leaks. On the flip side, they make excellent gaming headphones with the soundstage.
Also tip for anyone getting these: get velour pads, your ears will thank you. Pleather pads are no good.
