I believe this is the cheapest price offered here on this product to date on OzBargain.

Wanted to see if GearBest could beat the price offered by LITB here and they have done so by a few dollars.

I paid over$1000 at xiaomi store. Don't know how they sell it so cheap

Been trying hard for a while to get it at a decent price!

  • anyone got a link to the required drivers?

  • Is there need to purchase an english ver. of OS to re install?

    • From the reviews I have read it seems people have had luck just reinstalling the OS and it activates from the key related to the motherboard.

I think if you install the SINGLE LANGUAGE English version it will pull the serial number over correctly and still work. If you install a standard version of Windows 10 the code will not be valid. I did the latter and had to purchase a new serial ($5 or so from eBay).

Absoultely love this machine (I have the slightly older non fingerprint version). The battery life could be better but 99% of the time I am plugged in. My fan does get noisy occasionally but not often. Lack of card reader is a minor inconvenience.

        Would recommend.

        • Thanks for the feedback @mightyboy definitely encouraging!

  • Can you expand on the "Against info"
    Average battery life—-hours?
Windows 10 English re-install…do we need to get a copy?
How noisey…ie if using as desktop or on the road?

Suggest a mobile\on the road option?

    • I’ve only just bought one myself so can’t talk first hand. Online it shows about 6 hours of light usage. Using the GPU will significantly reduce this. It appears you can reinstall and use the key that comes with the laptop so no extra copy. Noisy if using intensive tasks. Web browsing and light usage shouldn’t be a problem.

      • 6 hours light usage doesn't sound good, but I'm not familiar with notebooks. Is this considered average/good/bad ?

I'd consider it below average personally. It does have a decent trade off with what I believe is a full charge over USB-C in ~1.5hrs.

        • @adamfury:
          Thanks @adamfury.
Fast charging is good, but I think the relatively short life would drive me nuts after a while. I have a tablet with a similar life and it is frustrating to have to continually recharge it.

        • @redcreek200: look for a laptop with low graphics. Mac air are longlasting, but weak.

I posted this above, but I'll put it here also…

  • Thinking of buying but hesitant with gearbest and there slow shipping times, is it worth paying extra for dhl or is the priority line ok ? says only 5 -10 days for $6.50.

    • I'd go dhl, but shipping is only as fast as gb processing time

  • Thanks, DHL is about $37 but there usually fast.

    • Dhl international are faster than aus post local. They're great

      • Yeah found priority line to be slower sometimes than just the regular post. Just my experience though I’ve had everything from GB show up within the 1 month mark.

        • Just make sure your package is insured

  • Btw I just use Chinese windows as is. No friggin around with drivers that way.

    Trackpad and keyboard performance?
    No backlit keyboard?
    Durability?
Can you replace battery and ssd?

Thoughts on compare to this old timer still running…..note keyboard\touchpad and connectivity great

    • I don't have all the answers, but I do have the slightly older version without the fingerprint reader and I can tell you this:

Mine has a backlit keyboard. It's very nice.

The trackpad works fine for me, but I am not one to worry much about that. I don't use it often.

The build quality is good, though occasionally the fan gets quite loud (only happened perhaps twice in the 6 months I have owned it)

I believe the version I have has a second SSD slot internally so I can not only swap the original you can had an additional one, though you'd have to look up the specs. You'd need a particular screwdriver to open it up. Not sure about battery replacement. Watch some youtube videos.

It's a great machine overall and I highly recommend it. I think I ended up paying only around $800 (after 8% cashback from Light in the Box). I sold my 4.5 year old Asus zenbook for $500 on ebay… so it was an awesome upgrade for me!

    • great backlit keyboard and trackpad(large and glass), however, you cannot adjust the level of backlit and no ambi-light sensor.
fully metal design, durability are all depend on how the people handle with the item. hard to comment
SSD can be easily update, plus it has one spare M2 SATA3 ssd slot as selling point. Battery should be replaceable….
Great notebook, No touch screen and recent batch had been reported using cheap screen panel by MI, older batch was using SAMSUNG panel, maybe the reason it is now selling at bargain price…

  • Any update on this? Apparently coupon has expired. Keen to buy if not.
