Virgin Velocity & Car Insurance

Hello,

I've just received my first credit card after lots of lots of decision making. I travel a lot for work and always with Virgin, so it made sense to pick up a Velocity credit card.

To try and maximise my points, I'm looking at renewing my comprehensive car insurance and changing to Virgin. They currently have a 5000 sign up bonus and the premium is actually cheaper than what I currently have with Coles.

My question is, can anyone confirm if I can earn velocity points by paying for my Virgin car insurance premiums? Or if this is an excluded item?
