    "Beware game may be pay2win"

    Understatement of the century.

    • Sounds like a good reason to neg for me. It's a terrible product.

    • What is pay2win?

      • Defined:
        https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=pay-to-win

        In short pay money=win game.

        • Ahk.

So it’s the game in general not this copy that amazon is selling.

My brother wanted it for Christmas so I might grab it from here.

"So it’s the game in general not this copy that amazon is selling."

Correct, the game "Star wars battlefront 2" is pay to win.

Pay to Win is a recent trend in major development games and one of the reasons indie games have spiked in popularity.

Basically, people are paying extra on micro-transactions in order for the game that they purchased to function.

The first Star wars battlefront had a similar problem in which some online maps were made available to download for a fee on release day.

Wow, with all the money I just saved I can buy a ton of loot boxes if they ever re-enable micro-transactions. ;-) Thanks OP!

    Don't support EA

  • +5

Terrible product and terrible for the entire industry if it succeeds.

    • +2

Best to resist buying it so that a message is sent to the whole industry.

      • Exactly, speak with your wallets.

      • The industry is trying because to many sheep are around these days

  • +6

Micro transactions and pay to win mean this game is not a bargain even at this price

  • +4

Foul game. Just foul. Need to pay extra $$$ so neg.

  • +1

Still cheaper than elsewhere so it is a 'bargain'

  • the user score on metacritic speaks for itself http://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-4/star-wars-battl…

Should be a free2play game at this rate
Not worth any upfront spend at all for this game

Great game hella fun especially if you are a SW fan. Probably the most enjoyable online multiplayer I've played since COD MW2. Such a shame EA has messed it up with their greed but things are not as bad as what it's made out to be tho. If you are a decent enough player and stick to a class and save up a bit you should be able to level up without too much of an issue. Heroes vs villains and Starfighters are good ways of earning bucketloads of points fast.

The worse about this game is that it is aimed for children and a lot of parents will buy it for them.

What they don't know is that the game is like a slot machine from the casinos. It uses the same tactics to make you pay for loot crates that will unlock random characters and weapons, it is not just pay to win, it took that to the extreme.

  • Has everyone who've been negging read the news the last couple days? EA are heavily increasing the rate in which players earn rewards in-game.

      • This isn't just about the issues with rewards though. Yeah they fixed them…. This time. They also removed MTX…. For now.

If you give EA money for this game you're excusing what they did and giving them even more cause to do it again. Yeah they pushed MTX too far this time, you think they won't do it again? They'll keep pushing more and more MTX each year

The only way to stop the influx of pay-to-win progression in AAA games is to vote with your wallet and not give them money, no matter how much they backtrack

They purposely locked content behind a paywall when it was already built into the game (cosmetic upgrades were found locked in the files). For that EA will no longer get a cent from me

        • There are also real people with jobs on the line. Boycotting a good game because of poor corporate and design decisions is a bit immature considering they're working towards fixing the issues people have been having

        • +1

          @ajee123:
It's the only way they will learn. People don't lose their jobs over one game, they lose them over continually pursuing bad decisions and management not learning. Also, this is not a good game. Beautiful? God yes, absolutely stunning. But it is not a good game (no weapon variety, poor match-making, only one decent online mode, heroes are terrible to control and not fun) though I will concede the space battles are entertaining

I don't doubt they are fixing the issues, but make no mistake, they are NOT doing it out of the goodness of their heart. They are doing it because they are losing sales and this is their biggest title, it needs to sell well

Also, poor corporate and design decisions are perfectly reasonable decisions to boycott a publisher, if we don't boycott, they will continue with these decisions

No bargain. $2500 to unlock entire game
