  • I find the start date of January a bit of false advertising by Thai. $1911 (from Melbourne) is quite a bit more than the advertised fare.

    • what dates were you looking at. I will have a look for you

      • The dates I searched were 17th - 28th January. It was mainly out of curiosity since every destination in their 'sale' seems to be way over the advertised fare.

Do you know if there are any decent fares to Bangkok any time in January?

        • Not direct to Bangkok. If you don't mind a stop, Air Asia has some $600 odd fares in the later part of January. Send me a PM if you are interested. Come February, I can see fares with Emirates for $714 return.

        • @flightfinderau:
I'm assuming the $600 fares don't include baggage etc?

February unfortunately no good as we have to travel in school holidays.

        • @chichi:

Unfortunately yes. Baggage, meals etc would be extra. If you can manage with carry on, $642 with Air Asia via Kuala Lumpur (good transit times).

Alternatively if you dont mind leaving after the 23 Jan, I can see fares with Emirates/Qantas for $799 (via Sydney)

  • Nice one.
Was looking for Italy flights around October and they can be had for about $950 using Thai.
    Thanks for the heads up!

    • what dates were you looking at?

      • for about 4 weeks somewhere around October/November '18.

Specifically, I found the Italian flights just by searching for SYD-MXP, FCO-SYD 1st October - 31 October

        • thanks. I was getting a much higher price but I was trying Melbourne and splitting across September.

  • Great to see Thai Air finally coming up will some very competitive pricing. I wonder if a stopover can be included in this pricing.
It would be nice if MAS joined into the competition.

    • I tried by doing a mult-city through BKK, but to no avail.

      • Thanks, I have found that mult-city bookings tend to not give you good pricing.

    • Yes you can for $50 odd more. I can see fares for example Melbourne-Zurich-Bangkok (stopover)-Melbourne for $962 return.

If you are interested, send me a PM and I can work out dates for you.

  • +3

    Also Milan:

    from Scott's Cheap Flights:

    TO:

    Milan (MXP)

    FROM:

    Melbourne (MEL) - $902
    Sydney (SYD) - $972

These flights weren't showing up in Google Flights or Skyscanner, so to find the cheapest available dates, search directly in Momondo using the sample search below.
I found that to get these prices, you need to make your flying days as follows:

OUTBOUND on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesday or Friday
RETURN on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays or Saturdays

  • Great price, can't seem to find any deals in April 2018 though.

    • Because of school holidays in Arpil, there is a blackout. If you leave after 23 April, I can see plenty of availability. PM with your specific dates and I can have a look for you

  • So good. I almost bought flights Perth to Düsseldorf yesterday for 1490 (x3 people). Now I can get close enough for 963!
