Best Car Insurance for Lexus SUV? (Have Had One Claim)

Looking to sign up for a new provider because AAMI is charging me close to $900 now, after 1 claim.

I heard Budget car insurance is quite good?

Any recommendations?

Budget and other online insurance companies (bingle, coles) are much cheaper because the level of service (and in some cases the level of coverage) is far less than you would get through a traditional insurer.

Comparison of our experiences, YMMV -
Bingle insurance - wife had a minor prang. We had to upload photos of the damage to their app and then waited 6 weeks before we had further instruction. The instruction was to book in to a panel beater of their choice. The closest was 35 minute drive away and it took another 3 weeks to book in.
RACV - parents had an accident. Called RACV. RACV approved panel beater then called them and organised for them to go in the following day to assess the damage. Car was in the panel beater by the end of the week.

If you're comfortable with the reduced level of service, then definitely consider Budget and their competitors.

  • Each insurer has a different risk book. One year you may find that Bingle is the cheapest, the next Allianz.

You can't compare with a friend as the price is based on address, car and age.

$900 for a Lexus SUV is normal. If you want cheaper insurance, drive a cheaper car.

    • Ditto this. $900 for a big, expensive, luxury SUV with one accident under the belt. OP should consider posting this as a deal.

I’m 45 with no accidents and driving a much cheaper small car and my insurance is nearly $900…
