  • Tried redeeming the QFF points but the website kept on crashing halfway through the process…

  • So is this only for outright phones or on plans too?

    • Vodafone offering the same, so, plan or outright up to you :). For outright purchase, use Amex deal with Samsung

  • looks like the people that bought the $778 harvey norman deal will miss out

    • $778 only with 2x AMEX, so really $978 ticket price.

    • Harvey deal is the lowest for sure. Then if you can group buy Note8 directly from Samsung Au with Amex, for example 4 people using one Amex, it would save $250 each plus 15K points each (spend $1699 or more with Amex on Samsung Au to claim 20% back, up to $1K)

      • meaning $1399 - $250 - $170 (15K points, 870 per $10 gift card) = Harvey Norman cheapest ticket price which is $979 lol

    • why?

  • Anyone know of any store in Sydney who will match the Harvey Norman 978 deal if I buy one today or tomorrow? Thanks.

    • No one as Samsung pushed that price on that day. Best you can get now is around $1150 to $1199. I was lucky I had one on backorder for $978 - $200 AMEX. I am getting that phone delivered this week and invoice is generated after successfully delivery. So after TRS it will be $678 and 15000 Qantas points worth at least $150, so $540 or so out of pocket.WTF hahhahah

Are you sure about the invoice generated after successfully delivery ?

        • -1

Yes has happened all the time for Harvey Norman Click and Collect or Delivery orders, after u collect or order is delievered, the invoice is emailed.

        • @regenade:
But you paid with 2 AMEX, so you did it in store right ?

Because I did a backorder in store but got a receipt straight away.

yes 100% I backordered on the day they were $978, and got phone call was available instore this morning, picked it up and invoice date is 6 December

        • @MelbBargainChaser77: awesome. Can claim 15k points then ✌️. Thanks

Anyone know whats the best deal currently to get a brand new aus stock black note 8?

  • Costco a valid store?

  • Funny this only gets 15,000. I got 20,000 QFF points on my S8, which is a cheaper phone.

    • That was in Sep when phone prices for S8 was almost near RRP !! Now with Boxing Day Sales and ebay/Amazon fighting it possible to land a $800 Note 8 after all coupons, cashback, Gift card offers !!

      • It was before end of August.
I got my S8 for $886 after discount plus 20% off eBay, then got 20k QFF points (worth maybe $120?), claimed TRS based on the undiscounted tax invoice ($97), got cashrewards cashback ($14), points from my creditcard (~$12), and will tax deduct using undiscounted tax invoice. So all in all, it should cost me bit over a couple of hundred :)

If you are claiming both TRS and Tax Work Deduction, that will be Tax Fraud. You can risk it though :P

        • @regenade: I reckon I need to use original invoices, because doing otherwise would be fraud :)

    What is 15,000 points worth>

    • I wanna know this too!

    • have a browse through the Qantas Store (https://www.qantasstore.com.au/)

    • +2

At 1 cent per point, approx $150.

This is a long response but here goes.

It depends what you are redeeming, and often enough the Qantas store or the Qantas partners that accept QFF would do a promotion on selected goods and services.

Most of the items in the qantas store including gift cards are at a fair price. Nothing special.

The best way to redeem points is to redeem it on rewards flights or flight upgrades. On the extreme end you can use 280k QFF points for a round the world multi stop trip in business class. Do the math, the value per point is fantastic.

Examples of uses of 100k qan points

I got my $978 Note 8 ($778 after my 2 x $100 Amex discounts) delivered today, they were out of stock 2 fridays ago and went on backorder, the sale date and delivery date on the receipt from Harvey norman shows that I purchased it today 6 December. Im confused if im eligible to claim the 15k qantas points. Does somebody know the correct answer?

    • It is what it is

    • Just try! you might get lucky ;)

      • I cant find in the T&cs why id be excluded. What am I missing?
