      Thanks for letting us know.

  • Any desktop deals by chance?

How do you get these deals. Is it via email?

    • +1

      He creates them

How do you get these deals.

Give out some arse, you get a deal.

      • .. and one wonders why the ADF rejects some applications lolz ;-)

    • Laptop's is where it's at with Lenovo. Most of Lenovo's desktops aren't really anything great, as they are geared towards business customers.

    • He contacts the sales team and negotiates on a cheaper price, no different from negotiating a price at jb-hifi.

If you go for 512gb version, and pay with amex, you should also get a bonus tablet worth $99 as per this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/347284

    • +1

You should be promoted to Power User, wouldn't surprise me if the mods were talking about you right now.

    • +1

The tablet is junk anyway. I'd rather have a cashback.

    • gooo gecko! nice post

  • Would this be enough for editing 4k video?
My laptop just died due to the electrical storms in Melbourne recently. Also would this be the best value for money laptop available?

    • +2

As good as you are going to get, though I'd highly suggest 16GB ram for that.
That said, 4k video can be pretty taxing, consider a nice new 8th gen 6 core desktop machine with a big screen, it will be night and day over a laptop!

    • Try replacing the power pack before buying a new one.

      • Tried everything possible. Just not turning on. Motherboard and possible harddrive failure. Had a comp friend pull it apart to try and repair it. No luck.

        • In that case, you can consider this to be an excellent candidate for your needs. The only company might be the bulk, but it’s okay for the price. For video, you’ll want to get a second 1tb disk, which get be bought for like $100.

      Got contents insurance??

      • Yeah going through the process of claiming. Laptop cost me 2k about 7 years ago so am in the market.

  • +4

Wanting same specs in 14" screen. This is tempting tho…

    • +1

Same. Need something a bit lighter preferably under 2kg.

  • Is this quad core or dual core?

    • +1

      Quad core with HT (4C/8T).

They are not the same class of laptops. This E570P is much faster, chunkier and has a gaming-grade graphics card

Those Inspirons are all using dual core and non-gaming grade GPU's. For a similar gaming and content creation experience you would be looking at a Dell Inspiron 7000 series which would cost starting $1120.

  • How does this laptop compare to the previous Metabox deal here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/346800

    • +2

The Metabox laptop has a few more ports. The selection of ports on this lenovo is pretty ordinary:

      3 x USB 3.0 (1 x AlwaysOn), SD card, HDMI, Combo audio/mic Ethernet (RJ45)

with Metabox you get additional 2 Displayport, an additional Type C port with USB3.1 gen1 port. Plus 4GB VRAM version of the GPU and intel wifi chip, and RGB lighting. RGB lights always makes things go faster :)

      • +1

RGB lights always makes things go faster :)

is that like putting flame decals on your car?

        • +1

the car sales guy said red cars always go faster

        • @holyland:

Only if they have racing stripes and a spoiler.

        • Or speedholes.

  • I was keen to jump on this but I realised there is no display port or usb-c, just a single hdmi. Not really flexible for multiple or changing monitors.
There goes my new work laptop idea…

Does Lenovo make anything thin and near bezelless to rival the XPS13?

    • I think the Yoga 920 series is the closest it'll get from specs to looks.

The only other laptop I can think of with thin bezels are HP Specter x360/13

  • +2

any x1 carbon deals TA? need something lightweight

  • +1

    Any overheating issues?
Lets say i want to use CPU and GPU 100% all the time, would it bottleneck because of the heat?

    • Its called thermal throtting and depends on the heatpipe design in the laptop, if the cpu and gpu are both connected to one heatpipe to the fan, normally one of the them will thermal throttle, but this laptop has two fan outlets so we'll have to see from a review

    • Very solid laptop that has very efficient cooling.
The cut-outs on the left and the right of the laptop are about one-third the width of the side and have heat fins.
The fan very, very rarely kicks in if using non-intensive applications.
When using the graphics card there is no prevalent throttling or stuttering.
Only issue is, the "Ctrl" key is in the wrong spot (Unless Macs are preferred)

  • Any chance bringing this toy's price https://www3.lenovo.com/au/en/laptops/yoga/yoga-700-series/Y… closer to 1000 price mark?

  • So I'm looking at getting this deal, but I'm not sure about the ssds:

    256GB Solid State Drive, PCIe-NVMe OPAL2
    512GB SSD SATA3 OPAL2.0

Is the 256gb drive that much faster than the 512gb? NMVe vs SATA3??

  • I missed this deal. Any chance to be repeated?
