  • On Average $49 per week (Opal rewards factored in). 1.25h each way.

  • $60 a week on fuel for motorcycle,
    40 to 45mins to work,
about $2 a day to park.

    • That's alot of petrol money for a motorbike. What do u ride? Must have a big engine.

      • gsxr1000 fill up 98 each time.

  • Train from Gold coast to Brisbane costs me about $70/week

  • $4.94 x 2 = $9.88 Sydney train costs from Fairfield area to City Circle (1hr each way).

Plus a 20 minute drive to the station, petrol costs of $5 per day approx.

So conservative estimate of $15 per day, 1 hour and 20/40 mins door to door.

Sydney is shit. But family is here and high paying jobs….so its kinda relative. I like living away from hipsters of newtown

  • Via public transport around $7 a day and 1hr 15mins door to door.
Driving via Toll around $7 (+petrol) a day and 40-50mins
Not using Toll (just petrol) 55-1:10 mins

  • Takes me 1hr to drive to work and a 7 to 10 minute walk from the car. Hate the walk the most.
Costs me roughly $60 (includes weekend driving) a week in fuel as I go the long way & avoid the tolls.

  • I spend about $40-50 a week on petrol including personal usage

depending on which site im at but usually 15-30 mins driving (depending on traffic) - i dont work in the city live in western suburbs of Melbourne and work in the western suburbs.

I dont think I personally could work a job that took longer then a 45min commute

Been offered more money in hawthorn and other areas but when you add in the travel time and cost it is not worth it.

  • I go through about a tank a week. A full tank cost's me about $10 (I ride a motorbike).

Takes me about 30 mins one way.

  • Motorcycle: $4.505 / day (Fuel: $16/week or $2.285/day. Maintenance: $400/6months or +$2.22 a day.)

    Car: $9.489 / day (Fuel: $47/week or $6.711/day. Maintenance: $500/6months or $2.77/day)

  • why dont you create a poll like your other post?

  • $40 per week, 50mins door to door.

  • Used to be ~$45 for train and hour each way to Melbourne CBD.
Now $2 in petrol and 3 minute drive each way to new work. (I should walk)

  • $50-$70 for fuel, depending on how the Australian fuel cartel has decided to price petrol on any given week.
But work gives me $50 a week for fuel, so it sometimes costs me nothing!

Takes me about an hour each way

  • $20.5 a week. 30 mins door to door (to work) via train, 50 mins to walk home. I treasure my sleep time…

  • Free. About 15 mins. (I ride my bike)

  • Walking distance so $0. Although I am paying roughly $200/month more for my apartment than I would normally like which is approximately the price of public transport so really I'm just saving time which is definitely worth it.

  • If i walk: Free
If i need to drive: approx $20 for parking

  • I drive 20 minutes each way, five days per week. No public transport options. Fuel only cost is about $45 per week including the little bit of running around I do.

  • $9.52week, 8 minute drive to work if no traffic, with bad traffic 15 minutes.
    $0/week if I ride for 22 minutes.

  • I used to drive 1 minute to work and refuel every few weeks. Got a way better job with actual career prospects now, but I currently travel 2h each way (train) for just under $120/week and it sucks, but I'll move closer soon… hopefully.

  • I commute three days a week and work from home the other two. Costs be about $25 a week to catch the train. I will start cycling as of next week meaning I'll pay $0!

  • I drive 28km each way to work taking 40min-1hr depening on traffic. My average fuel consuption is 8.7L/100km and pay approximately $1.15/L on average (have a cheap Metro petrol station in Cabramatta that I fill up in late at night). Rego about 360/yr and servicing costs approx 800/yr. Total insurance costs about 1300/yr (comprehensive and CTP).My car depreciation is approx $1000 / year at the moment
Cost per work day for yearly expenses is worked out as yearly cost / 48 weeks / 5 days a week.

    Costs per trip to work
    Petrol = $5.80
    Rego/work day = $1.50
    Insurance/work day = $5.40
    Servicing/work day = $3.33
    Depreciation/work day = $4.16

    TOTAL = $20.19

BLIMEY!!!! Conclusions : the cost of petrol is only slightly more than 1/4 the cost of running a vehicle!! And $20 a day to drive 58km a day is way more than I expected! Perhaps I should invest in a pedal assistance electric bike to take to work some days.
