I think it's closer to 36% off. Good deal nonetheless

    • Why 36%?

      • +15

Because percentages are calculated in series. So say you have a $100 item -20% off gives $80. Then subtract a further 20% off, giving $64.

        • +3

I was not good at maths hahaha

        • +12

Yep, discounts don’t stack, even if they are from Stack

  • +1

Wow thats amazing thanks !!, West world 4k for me :)

    • Works out to be $32 :-)

    • is this valid for 4k blurays aswell example 40 for 2 or 30 for 2 aswell?

      • I think the code only valid for one disc

  • +2

Planet of the Apes trilogy on 4K for $41.58 is a bargain!

    • No it isn't, because it's fake 4k.

Well.. it's still not bad. But unless you'd pay $41.58 for fulhd Blu-ray then it's not worth buying, because you're going to get it in upscaled 2k.

  • +4

What a great deal, thanks for this, was just going to buy a boxset, nice timing ! Pokemon - Movies 1-3 (Gold Edition Blu-Ray Boxset) for $25 :)

Ill be saving a code for that one I think. ;) hopefully another 20% off sale on Boxing Day or something and then will use the code!

    • +1

You'll have to wait until it's been released as the code can't be used on preorders.

  • Stack this when they have 20% off movies?

    • Yes

  • Are you sure this can be stacked with their current 20% off?

    • 100%, but will only work on 1 movie in your cart.

    • Yes, I have placed an order with the coupon and it definitely works with their current 20% off sale.

  • Damn I bought some blu-rays on Wednesday.

    • +1

      Me too :(

  • -1

    • +2

  • +1

That new Harry Potter 4K + Blu-Ray set comes down to $104 with this deal, bargain !

      • +1

To be fair most releases at the moment are upscales. 4k is only part of the benefit anyway.

        • +1

Just passing on info. The industry needs to do something about standards before cowboys flood it with counterfeit "4K" at "real" 4K prices.

        • +1

          @Possumbly:

It's the studios who are to blame. They don't produce a 4k di so they can't be true 4k on disc. Though part of the issue is the amount of cgi in films and the short post production timedrames. They simply don't have the time or budget to finish them in 4k.

        • @hazzad: Yes, film companies can also be cowboys but anyone marketing a DVD as 4K when it has in fact been upscaled needs to be taken to task, and who better to do so than the industry itself. Eventually some consumer group in the USA will probably do it if the industry doesn't because it's essentially deceptive conduct. Many people won't care (at least until they find out they've been duped) but in the meantime it's best to be wary if having REAL 4K quality is important to you.

          https://www.highdefdigest.com/blog/ultra-hd-not-always-4k/

        • @Possumbly: If having real 4k is important to you and the mislabeling of resolution is a problem, than maybe you should be referring to "4k" as UHD? The term UHD exists because it is technically incorrect to call 3840x2160p: 4k. About 99% of advertised "4k" tv's and monitors are actually UHD. This is an even bigger problem in my opinion. Actual 4k is 4096x2160 and is over half a million pixels more than UHD. To call something 4000 (4k) when it isn't is more stupid in my opinion than saying a movie is UHD resolution but it has been up-scaled. The movie is in fact shown in UHD resolution so if it said UHD blu-ray it is technically correct as you can view it in said resolution. You don't see them saying upscaled on every blu-ray release of dvd's that weren't shot in full hd so why should UHD be different? If having REAL 4k quality is important to you, you would have to buy a tv/monitor with actual 4k resolution and we would need actual 4096x2160p reolution media too. The whole naming scheme for resolution at the moment is a complete mess: https://www.extremetech.com/extreme/174221-no-tv-makers-4k-a…

        • @Tythefly86: Yes, "4K" TVs are also intentionally mislabelled, although some (used to) say simply '4K ready'. The issue isn't a technical one. Nor in reality is it a standards one but the industry wants to play loose with definitions in order to charge premium prices and make people believe that they should upgrade their devices and their content. As I said, upscaling a 2K movie and selling it as 4K for a premium price is intentionally misleading. They know that having "4K upscaled from 2K" would be a turnoff for many consumers so they simply tell porkies.

        • Basically every movie has special effects rendered in 2K so all big action blockbusters are effectively 2K converts. Majority are filmed in 2K grading aswell. Means around 5-10% is real 4K maybe even less

        • @Tythefly86: Hmmm, I personally prefer it to be named QFHD (Quad Full High Definition) and save UHD for the 8k 16:9 variant (7680x4320p) because according to wikipedia, both 2160p 16:9 and 4320p 16:9 are called UHD, so it would make sense to save UHD for the latter and have the former be referred as QFHD, just like 2560x1440 is called QHD since HD is 1280x720.

Thanks OP. Will be handy when buying 4k movies

  • Just bought a handful of new 4K movies… buy another one or use this on GoT… hmm

I got an email from Stack Mag (JBHiFi) despite not subscribing. Seems JB was naughty and used or passed on their customer list without advising people. I had to unsubscribe to a list I didn't subscribe to in the first place

      • +1

Stack is JB Hi-Fi, it's their in-house magazine.

  • Good find OP, thanks a bunch!

  • Bought Wonderwoman 4K for $22.38, nice.

    I don't have a 4K player XDD

  • Probably a dumb question, but does anyone know if you need a 4K player to play 4K UHD? Currently I play Blu-Rays through my PS4 (non pro version). Is there any point buying the 4KUHD discs or should I just buy blu-ray? I've got a high spec Sony UHD tv and want to get the best out of it. Thanks!

    • +1

      Change to XBox One S

    • +1

If you start buying the UHD versions you normally get a Bluray version included. But you would be better off buying an actual UHD player to.pair with the tv.

    • +1

PS4 can't play them. If you own a 4k tv then you really should take advantage of 4k content. Strangely even the PS4 Pro can't play 4k blu rays despite being a 4k console. The best way to play 4k blu rays is with the Xbone S. There have been bundles with around $200 worth of games for $250-270 recently. I'd say there may be a good bundle at boxing day.

      • Strangely even the PS4 Pro can't play 4k blu rays despite being a 4k console.

        I think mainly licensing issue.

        • It doesn’t have a 4K bluray drive

      • Thanks for that! I'll keep an eye out!

  • new
is this valid for 4k blurays aswell example 40 for 2 or 30 for 2 aswell?

  • Can someone please donate a code? Haven't received one after three hours.

  • Haven't received a code :( Still working?

    [email protected]

    it works :P

  • I used 'Disposable Temporary E-Mail Address' for Chrome. Gives you an email address for 10 minutes. Received code instantly.

Stupid question but can the code be used 'in store' ?

    • Yep, you just need to scan the QR code that comes in the email at the checkout.

      • I didnt notice a barcode. The first thing I saw was the code just written across the screen. Unfortunately my temp email is gone. I wonder if they would just take the code ?

        • +1

Think you need the QR code, but could just try give them the coupon code, alternatively just order online for C&C in-store and tell them that you're ready for pickup.

Or just make a new temp email, signup to stack again and get the QR code off it.

        • @doweyy: new temp email and this time I printed QR code. Didn't want to pay online, wanted to you hidden economy money (hidden from wife)

  • +1

This worked well for me, thanks OP.

Bought "Stargate Atlantis - The Complete Series" (20 Blu-ray) when it was on sale, then used this coupon to get it for $63 + $1.69 postage, it is now back to $140.
