Free US iTunes account and free music

90

Follow this process to get a US iTunes account. While the account won't be funded, you will be able to download the free content available through the US iTunes Store. Regularly updated information about which content is free can be found at http://www.itsfreedownloads.com/

The provided website suggests a few sites that you can get your redemption code from, I found that this one worked: http://www.tunecore.com/freealbum

Once you've got your US iTunes account you could also buy US iTunes vouchers off of ebay to fund your account - then you'll be able to purchase singles at US$0.99 instead of the AU$1.69.

Of course, you'll have to have a US address, zip code and phone number to register your account too ;-)

  • this looks like a scam

are you sure this is no scam and its safe?

    • Nope, it's not a scam. I know it does sound strange at the start! :)

I've done it myself, if you follow all the steps it works fine! Very handy!

  • This also works with the Australian iTunes Store - very handy if you don't have a credit card!!!

  • works for me - thanks

  • be warned, if u get a US Account, when you want to buy stuff from teh AUssie store, u need to make a new account!

    • Yes, but you can easily maintain multiple itunes accounts… you just log into the various stores as required.

    • If you have a US account then why have the Aussie account. At 1,69 a song vs 99c (at.90c exchange rate = $1.10 which is a 59c saving, or am I missing something here

      • yeh but there are like aussie artists that arent world wide. like those australian idol people (for example)

      • The problem I see is that iTunes U.S. will only accept U.S. issued credit cards. Anyone had any luck using the U.S. account to buy something?

        • Best method if you want to buy stuff from the US store is to buy US Itunes gift vouchers off of ebay.

          • @adam: yeah if you can get them for a decent price! Most of them seller for > their value

            • @Orgazmo: Actually just picked up 2 x $20 itunes cards for $12 each on ebay last night! Like anything with ebay, check the seller feedback on these cheap deals — this one had 88 ratings, but I saw some cheap deals with under 10 comments, that's a bad sign.

Anyway bottom line — ipod games in AU store = $7.99 — US store with discount credit = $3.30.

Also, make sure the US address you use is not in a state with sales tax! I only noticed this after my first purchase and quickly "moved" to Alaska! :D

              • @_linus: Are you entered just some random but valid US address and they dont verify it?

                • @Orgazmo: Pretty much. I've used a random address, just make sure you use a real zip code. Google your chosen state and "zip code" to find a working one. You could always put Post Restante if you don't want to lie ;)
