  • Dont forget to add gst and any other duties and import fees

    • Here's hoping the declared amount is less and customs don't pick up on it.

Does anyone else notice that LITB has been vey active on OZB lately?

Looks like they are determined to take the bargain crown away from GB.

Anyway competition is always good for us OZBers :P

    • Yes a few minutes and boom, they beat the deal I posted lol.

    • +1

Christmas is the time of giving. Gotta pump out those deals <:

Need some more zigbee outlets man. And a gateway. I wanna buy 6 outlets and one gateway.

  • Recently purchased the 13.3" model from these guys and am very happy with the experience. Laptop received 5 days after ordering and it is a fantastic machine for the price.

    • +1

As opposed to gearbest where I waited almost 2 months being led along with "next week" more than once, then I finally canceled. I also had to threaten a PayPal dispute for them to answer my request for a refund. It was ordered at a fantastic price, but didn't work out. I've ordered other stuff from gb without problem, but not so with my order for the (older version of the) 13.3 Xiaomi notebook.

$1014…getting close to that magic price point of <$1000

    • +1

The threat of GST hangs heavy as well..

  • +2

Wow, great price but killer about it just being over the $1000 GST-free threshold.

If there's a rep on OzBargain, could you please relist this with shipping excluded? That should bring the value of the goods below the $1k threshold.

    • +1

hi mate, you mean like set the page price 700 USD and change free shipping to 67 USD? will this work to avoid the GST?

      • +1

Hi! Yes, I believe it would as then the value of the goods is 700USD (below AUD1k) and the shipping is a separate item.

        • +1

:) sounds good. i will check how to set this.

        • @MiniInTheBox: Has this been done? is there a special code? can we please get an update for this.

      • According to a quick google the general consensus is that will work.

I'm currently working in Cote D'Ivoire and can't see the 767.01USD price, still want to get it shipped to Australia. Can you help me out rep?

        • the discount price will show up when you change shipping address to AU at checkout page, don't forget uncheck shipping insurance

        • @MiniInTheBox: Great! Can we do it and add shipping insurance?

        • @MiniInTheBox:

Thanks, can the price be changed (decrease item, increase shipping) to bring the goods cost below $1000? Will jump on it if thats possible.

        • +1

@Vert93: i'm trying to figure out how to do this, the best situation is i cancel free shipping. remove some product valus to shipping fee, then hope Customs won't add shipping fee to package fee

        • @MiniInTheBox: Rep, that didn't work unfortunately. I've raised a ticket so you can see the order

        • @Brickles: …what's ticket? i can't check any without order number. and what's your requirement?

        • @MiniInTheBox: Sorry Rep, perhaps I got ahead of myself!

When I raised the ticket I thought you'd updated the price to separate out shipping already, as per your comment:
"the discount price will show up when you change shipping address to AU at checkout page, don't forget uncheck shipping insurance"

Standing-by for an option with shipping as a separate line item.

        • @Brickles: ….my last comment was for Vert93 to see the 767 price.
'I'm currently working in Cote D'Ivoire and can't see the 767.01USD price, '

i can't do any price change on order already exist.

        • @MiniInTheBox:
I haven't placed an order yet. Will do once the shipping charge (say $20 USD) can be seperated.

        • @MiniInTheBox: Any update on the price change?
I'd like to place an order too if we can get the unit price below threshold :)

    • Please correct me if I am wrong but I believe it is the total value including the postage.

      • nah it's not included per:

        http://www.border.gov.au/Importingandbuyinggoodsfromoverseas…

        ARE FREIGHT AND
        INSURANCE COSTS INCLUDED?
The Customs value does not include freight and insurance costs
in transporting the goods from the ‘place of export’ to Australia.
However, any inland freight and inland insurance costs incurred
by the purchaser before the goods leave the ‘place of export’ are
        included in the Customs value.

beetran, I believe you're wrong based on my short research this afternoon. Summary follows for those who are interested. Please correct me if I've misunderstood any salient points.

The key outcome is: Whether it's over or under the $1k threshold is based on the FOB value, which doesn't include international shipping. Evidence is below in 2 parts.

        First part:
"Currently, low value goods (that is, goods with a customs value of $1,000 or less) are generally not subject to GST when imported directly into Australia by the recipient." Source: https://static.treasury.gov.au/uploads/sites/1/2017/06/C2016…

-> Conclusion 1: the "Customs Value" is the relevant item to determine.

        Second part:
"The Customs Value (CVAL) is the value of the goods on which duty will be charged. Generally the value used is the free on board (FOB) value of the goods, which is the value of the goods excluding overseas transport and insurance." Source: https://www.border.gov.au/Busi/Carg/CMR-/Customs-Duty-Calcul…

-> Conclusion 2: "Customs Value" is the FOB value, which doesn't include international shipping.

To support this (albeit without any supporting links), the following Whirlpool discussion has this relevant information from 2x people who claim to be Customs Brokers:

""If the goods are under the AUD $1000 threshold, then freight/shipping/postage is NOT included -as per gh's post – it is based on FOB value of goods ( FOB = Free on Board – free on board ship or plane )

Take it from a Customs Broker."

Im one too and this person is correct

          Ill explain it another way

          There are two senarios

1, If the laptop itself is valued at less than aud$1000 there is no duty and taxes, the freight and insurance isnt even part of this senario so forget about the freight cost in this instance

2, If its valued over aud$1000 then the freight and insurance are part of the senario and you pay GST on the cost insurance and freight value"

However way you can jig it, if you can get this under $1000 total with declared value your sales will soar.

  • Hey guys, has anyone managed to push through in getting one under the GST-threshold? I'm very keen on getting one

  • Would love to hear from everyone how to avoid GST levy, looking for great research from ozbargainers! :D

  • Any go below the $1000 :)

  • Price increased? I'm about to buy one.

    • Looks like it's expired. PM their rep and he could probably do another deal.

      • Let's make it $950 AUD, and $30 AUD as default express shipping.

        • i'd be happy with $999 AUD + shipping :/
