    • I have an old legion gaming laptop back in covid days which has now died. How does the i5 compare to the old legion pro 5

      16" WQXGA (2560 x 1600) 165Hz 500 Nots display

      Intel Core i7-12700H Processor (2.3 - 4.7GHz)

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti graphics 140W

      • -2

        what is 500 nots display?

  • +13

Accidentally purchased the ITX system. Woops.

    • +36

slipped, fell, clicked deal, upgraded to i5, checked out, paid, stood up

    • Last time I bought the AMD one with excitement this time I did the same as you whoops…

  • Hi, I am looking to replace my 12 years old Dell PC due to Windows 10 restrictions and latest update causing my monitor to show "blank", which I believe due to old AMD R9 200 card that I have. How is the PC compared to mini PC for the fraction of price ? I don't oftenly used the PC tbh, only use it for setting up modem, viewing and uploading photos, setting up printer, etc. I wish to install Linux too, but after a number of attempts, I finally gave up. I am looking for a PC replacement that I am hoping can last at least 10 years as per my last Dell PC (XPS 8700 Desktop). Will this PC or mini PC will answer my needs ?
    Thanks

    • +3

      Depends which 'mini PC'

And if you're not gaming, don't bother with a dGPU; these TechFast PCs will be way overkill for your use case

Get a refurb OptiPlex or other office PC and you'll be set

      • Tbh, I have no idea which mini pc as it is new thing for me. I was recommended by a friend to buy mini pc as it is just around $200 and can be used for my needs rather than buy a big PC which costs more and needs bigger space. The problem with refurbished PC, it will be at least 3 years old already and may not last longer due to windows system that kept download updates and updates

        • rather than buy a big PC which costs more and needs bigger space.

It's normally the other way around, the smaller the PC the more expensive. You're paying a premium for the small form factor.

The problem with refurbished PC, it will be at least 3 years old already and may not last longer due to windows system that kept download updates and updates

Doesn't really matter, as long as the CPU is Intel 8th gen and higher then it'll support Windows 11. For reference, Intel 8th was released 8 years ago.

Thanks for this, I literally just went and bought one on the back of this comment

@luketechfast Is this deal at the end of your post actually still available:
AMD Ryzen 5 7500F | RTX 5070 Gaming PC + Free DOOM: The Dark Ages: $1788

Cause when I click through the links that is priced significantly higher and the discount code doesn't work at checkout?

    • +2

Listing had lapsed but I've reenabled, thanks for that.

      • Thanks mate. Ordered

  • +1

I would personally suggest opting for similarly priced R5 5600 version of this deal here:
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/904104

    Good to have options though!

    • I opted for that build with upgrades to Ryzen 5 5600 and PSU upgrade to 750W gold for the same price as this 4060ti deal with the same specs except a 12400f over the 5600

This seems like a better deal, why would you recommend the Ryzen 5 5600 over the 12400f?

      • i think more for the upgradability, although the 5600 is AM4, you have options like 5700X3D for CPU upgrade which will improve it’s performance significantly. You can also upgrade the GPU without worrying the clearance on the case since it’s mAtx instead of ITX

        • +1

Correct me if I'm mistaken, but they're both mATX for the 4060ti deals. Every spec is identical outside of the motherboard and the CPU. They've listed MicroATX for both systems.

I believe the Intel 12400f outperforms the 5600 based on my viewing of direct comparisons in games, roughly 10-15fps in most games across the board. The Intel also has the option of upgrading to 13th and 14th generation Intel CPUs as well no?

I've already committed to the 5600 build since it's in testing now and I can't change it. But a little bit of FOMO from switching to it after I managed to score the 12400f/4060 ITX deal weeks ago and opted to upgrade to the 5600/4060ti for $300 more. (Largely for the case, PSU and better GPU)

          • @User0001: Ah I see, I thought you were comparing with the ITX build. My point still stands though. AMD platform is much better compred to Intel. 5600, later down the line, you can find a deal on 5700X3D CPU for $200 ish (past deal) from Aliexpress and you are good to go. Intel unfortunately doesn’t have an equivalent to 5700X3D that I am aware of. (Even if it does, it would be priced significantly more expensive than their AMD counterparts. For CPU and Mobo, always pick AMD over Intel. 5700X3D is even better still in games, compared to the newly AM5 AMD Ryzen 7 7700, thanks to it’s 3D caching, which improves gaming performance by a lot. I don’t think theres any games that the 5700X3D cannot handle since it’s so powerful and futureproof (for gaming that is)

            • @dystopiachoa: The cheap 5700x3d stock on aliexpress dried up 7+ months ago as production has stopped (same with 5800x3d), you will not find them at any worthwhile price again. There is no upgrade path left for am4 now.

    • 12400f is more similar to 5600x, so 12400f will slighly faster than 5600 on avg. I heard AMD stopped production of 5700x3d and 5800x3d, so upgrade path isn't looking good for AM4 neither.

Can these ITX system be laid down horizontally safely in those cases? Do they need feet added or something?

    • +7

I wouldn't recommend it - the CPU pulls air on one side and the GPU pulls air on the other side, through the respective side panels. There are no feet for horizontal laying - if you stuck say soft pads to raise it off a surface to allow airflow maybe? But it's not designed for horizontal use.

    • +1

      Would need feet.
One side is for CPU intake, other side is for GPU intake

  • +1

hey @luketechfast, how physically big is the case? thanks

  • Awesome, thanks. I have been waiting for the ITX deal to come around again.

  • if my teen wanted to do some editing using i think Adobe Lighthouse would any of these under $1k setups be fine for that?

    • +3

You mean light room? You can use it on even worse PCs than these listed.

      • +13

Haha yes light room. I've finally become my dad.
        Thanks for the input

  • that seems to be $30 more than usual on the i5 ITX, correct?

    • Yep dunno how this is a EOFY deal when its worse than what it normally is, i3 is also $30 more expensive.

  • 5090 kit deal looks pretty good.

  • +1

    5060 deal when?

  • @luketechfast does the Maxsun H610 ITX mobo support 64GB RAM? The manufacturer’s website suggests so but I can see you only offer up to 32GB with it.

    • Manufacturer site does say it does yep, we've never tested it though so haven't looked into compatibility etc. Best advice would be to buy with 16GB and purchase a separate 64GB kit after doing some compatibility checking yourself.

      • Thanks @luketechfast!

  • Hi there, is there any further discount for buying 2 unit or more at the same time?

    • +1

Margins are as tight as they can be so prices are firm regardless of quantity.

      • @luketechfast I have accidentally place the wrong order, instead of buying one unit of 12400f+4060 can i change the order to two unit? I do not want to double the shipping cost, the order number is TF48254838561 i have already send an email to request this.

        • Each unit will have its own shipping cost regardless as it's a physically separate box that attracts its own shipping charge via Auspost, but we will reply to your email to confirm.

          • -8

@luketechfast: Ok, so i do have to pay for shipping cost twice? Anyway thanks for ur help.

  • +1

    Hi,

What can you do for me if i'm looking for a NAS, i don't need a video card, just integrated would do. Room to plug in 4-8 H/D's. Possibly room for 2 x nvme's and a small SSD for the NAS O/S
    Guess i would need a pro m/b?

Trying to figure out if i could build one cheaper than a synology for $900

But the H/D prices seem pretty insane atm as well, like $450-$500 for a 10tb oof

    • +1

I'm in the same boat, need Intel for Plex and at least 4 HDDs.
People recommend a Jonsbo build, but not too keen to take it on at this time.

      • +1

In case it's of interest to either of you, I've done well out of a Terramaster with Unraid on it. Works just like a custom Unraid server but removed the hassle of assembling something myself.

        • thanks! did consider, most are N95 based? the beefier i3/i5 ones are expensive as!
wanted to migrate most of my workloads over, right now on a 8th gen optiplex running unraid with a single 3.5 HDD hosting plex.
And an aging QNAP for CCTVs and photo backups

          • +1

@Rorschach: I have recently transitioned from Plex to Stremio with a debrid server for my media streaming. This after building a dedicated Plex server. The costs are extremely reasonable ($60 a year) for performant 4k streaming.

Would recommend giving it a look before investing in a NAS server if media streaming is your main goal.

Plenty of Reddit posts explaining the set up process.

            • @Monacraft: Thanks, got some stuff running on both my setups that I would ideally like tor replace with a single machine.
Also, may need some VMs for work. The recent intels all have a good number of cores from what I see.

  • dang, and i had just ask about this on your previous post. ordered, thanks.

  • +11

    RTX 4060: $400
    Entire computer with one: $688

    ?????

I hate how a graphics card is like 70% of the cost now, damn AI and crypto

    • True, but $700 for a whole system ain’t bad when you consider its capability.

      • +1

        No yeah, it’s really good

I’m just commenting how ridiculous GPU prices have become, in comparison to a really capable CPU being only $200 or less now

RAM is under $100 for 32GB kits at times too… Everything but GPUs you can get more than enough power for very cheap

    • wow if you put it that way and just want a pc to surf the net a decent spec'd PC under $300 sounds really cheap

      • +2

        …Name checks out

My complaint is that the average GPU cost has basically doubled if not tripled while CPUs are similar pricing but much more capable (there is high end options available to consumers now too), and RAM is steadily cheaper every time you look at prices

Motherboards haven’t moved much but are more feature packed

Without crypto and AI, GPUs would likely be like $150 for a 4060 and a very capable gaming pc like $400

        • +1

it surely does… if i could be Spendnothing it would be better but life is expensive

Hi, I wanna ask if there is a payment method where I can split the payment into many 4 times or so?
    Thank you.

    • I used PayPal's pay in 4 if that is something you have access to.

      • Not sure how to do that but cannot see it atm

        • Your account might not be eligible, but when I choose PayPal as the payment option and in the window that pops up to confirm which payment method, I have a checkbox to use PayPal's Pay in 4 at the bottom near the confirm button from what I remember.

  • +2

Wanna yell at myself because I bought one from the competitor, was desperately waiting for techfast to post, and couldnt wait, only if I waited for a few days more, I could've saved nearly $130. Damn it mindlessshopper

    • Should have shot them a quick email first 😉 they are usually happy to try their best to compete or would have at least said hold on they're about to drop a promo. We live and learn, well some of us do 🤣

      • +1

Sometimes you have to learn it hard way eh ?

  • Is this 1x16gb Ram or 2x8gb?

    • Click through, you can choose

  • Is there an option for a case to have a 5.25" bay for an optical drive?

  • Any usb or any ports on this case? Cannot find pictures of the ports

    • If you need an accessible USB port then just plug a hub in.

  • +1

oops. Accidently place the order and made the payment before my brain reliazed I have two of those PC at home already.

    • +2

The 3rd one will be the best!

    • Happy little PC family

  • How do you get the price to $718? I am trying to add the coupon codes but pressing "update code" does nothing and the price remains the same?

    • +1

make sure you use the first code if you are buying the itx build

      • Iim trying but nothing happens? when i press the button to enter it, it just draws a blank and the page does not change.

        • Does it change the total price? It does for me, i tried on 2 different devices

      • well that was the issue, theres 2 codes and I changed the cpu to the i5 so naturally i kept trying the second code expecting each one to work to work with the cpu u choose That was kinda confusing haha, Thanks.

  • Hi @luketechfast, I was just wondering if there are any ram tolerance issues with the itx build, as I plan on installing my own, these are the dimensions: 13.8 x 0.8 x 5.1 centimetres

    • +1

      you should be fine

  • out of stock luke?

  • +1

@luketechfast Can the ITX one fit one or two 3.5 HDDs?

  • Hi @luketechfast, any chance we got a built for AI usage in the near future?

  • @luketechfast Hi will the deal with the code 12100F-4060I-EOFY25 for the $718 12400/4060 still be available this sunday the 25th? As that's when I will be getting paid and hope to purchase a build on that day!

  • +1

I bought a 4060 matx PC on 2nd of May and it was in testing since last Friday. Previous purchase, the testing only took 1 days before it’s shipped. Just be wary of the long wait times from TechFast. Still waiting for the shipped notification hopefully status change from testing to shipped early next week

  • Will it be possible to pay with paypal and pickup the PC? Thanks.

  • I noticed these don't have a mobo with a built in wifi card - is a mobo upgrade available? Otherwise what's my next best option considering the router is in another room (and powerline adapters aren't an option)

  • Hello - is it possible to get the i5-12400F PC in a non-gaming case (eg eithout glass/colours)?

  • says out of stock when you try to add to cart :( probably ran out a while ago?

  • Does anyone know if the $718 version can play GT7 or even GT8 (when that comes out)?

    Thanks in advance
