  • I have a gmktec n97 with 12GB and it is a great little box!

    Home theatre/retro pc.

With that brand, thats likely a ddr5 box.

The dual channel-esque nature of even single sticks of ddr5 make a world of difference. These N series chips are hugely memory bottlenecked.

This being a ddr4 version, you can expect literally as high as a 33% performance drop.

      • Yes true. It is ddr5.

      • Can you explain what you mean about the dual-channel-esque nature of DDR5? I haven’t heard that before. Thanks

    Great for homeassistant

N150 at around $150 is a deal. N97 not so much.

    • +2

N97 is more powerful, but is memory starved on ddr4

      • Doesn't matter if it is being used for Home Assistant

All other specs being equal and TDP aside, isn't the N97 a better performer for both CPU and iGPU?

      • Yes

        • Admittedly I was lucky to pick up that $120 N97 16GB/512GB from a couple of months back which makes this one seem expensive :D

  • They also have a 16GB/1TB version for $211.99 - $76 more for an extra 8GB ram and extra 750GB SSD space. Seems like a discount according to Camelx3.

    Both versions include Win11Pro btw.

  • this little buddy for piehole?

    • Well overpowered just for pihole duties.

Could do proxmox with a pihole lxc + a home server/docker VM or something and it'd be fine.

    Bought GMK G2 for $126. That’s a real deal.

  • Would this be OK for study/ excel/powerpoint/word duties?
