    • hey luke i bought this system and i got an email to verify it but they didnt tell me how to and they said my order progressed is this normal?

  • +9

Love Techfast, still using my rig from 6 years ago lol

  • Do we thinking of doing a built for video edit at some stage in the future or if you have, please share ?

    • +1

This can almost certainly video edit - when you say video editing, what speed are you looking for that this doesn't supply?

      • This will be very slow if we are talking 4k video editing
need more RAM / more video RAM / more more more !!!

        • this is not even $800…

        • +3

          I used to edit 4k video on a 2060 with 6GB VRAM.

          • @CascadeHush: Good share. I checked and the first 4K YouTube video was 2015, I think this system can handle it. Strangely though, the RTX 4060 is not even 2x faster than the fastest GPU from 2015. A GTX Titan X (12GB) vs RTX 4060 (8GB).

  • Anyone may know based on this spec, how many LDPlayer multi-instance can run on this?

  • I'm not too familiar with specs, can someone who's got a bit more knowledge give an honest review of this? I'm looking to upgrade from a 2021 Dell XPS 15, and hoping to play games like the remastered Oblivion.

  • Excuse my stupidity. How does this compare to the deal from a couple of days ago, https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/903533

    • AMD CPU rather than intel, https://www.cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html
CPU rating 19,346 vs intel 14,038

      • +4

The 12400F performs better in single core but the 5500 and 5600 are comparable across mutlithreads with the 5600 slightly better. The case and aesthetics (personal choice) are better on this one hence the price increase.

        • I looked at 12100F, you're right should have compared 12400F.
Agree with your point and AM4 i think is better than Intel 12th gen as you have ability to upgrade to 5700X3D, a much better chip down the line if you want (provided still available)

    • +4

If you decide to stick with the PC until it ends of life, that one is better p/p. Also the ITX form is ideal if you want small footprint case on table, or bring it when traveling.

However in general this deal PC is better for normal consumer. When you plan to use a PC for years, a 100$ upgrade shouldn't be an issue. With that you get a better case aesthetically and functionality, the ability to swap bigger components (mainly mobo + GPU), and AM4 has better upgrades compare to 12th gen Intel IMO.

TL/DR: Get ITX PC if you know exactly what you need and don't bother for any upgrade. This PC deal is more normal and easier to upgrade in the long run.

      • the ability to swap bigger components (mainly mobo + GPU), and AM4 has better upgrades compare to 12th gen Intel IMO

Careful…they're ALL low-tier parts, except the Ryzen 5. The system is @ its limit & likely NOT able to handle pro-long HEAVY-loading with HIGH room temp. in summer months, eg 30°C during summer. Observe their temp. using HWiNFO-s/w & temp. sensor gun..eg MOBO.

For those who've pushed their system(s), all of a sudden, your system die & for the NOVICE, it's a herculean-effort identifying the component responsible.

Btw, many of readers' understandings is tainted by paid & bias reviews. Real-world experience fall short of that…lower your expectations. Look for the negative experience shared @ forums & you'll have a MORE-balanced understandings.

  • This one seems to be a better value than the ITX deals going around(for just $90 more)
    Or am I missing something?

    • +7

ITX deals are always going to be worse value, you're paying a premium for the small form factor.

      • +1

        And lower volume of production.

  • How would you rate this for PCVR? I have a Quest 3s I'm dreaming of one day connecting to a rig.

    • +1

keep in mind you'll also need a wifi 6 router dedicated to Quest 3s
play in same room as router connected to PC and you'll have wifi connection with relatively low latency

4060, 8gb won't be amazing for VR games on PC however will work. Not for graphically heavy games as VR adds significantly more requirements than just the games themselves.

      • +1

Cheers mate. Any suggestions on what would be moderate specs you could get away with for most titles?

        • +1

That's a tough question, I'm running 5700X3D and 3080 10gb, no issues so far (I used Quest 3). Will likely upgrade graphics in next 1-2 years when something decent $ / performance is available. Graphics I'd go 16gb vram card.
Suggest using VirtualDesktop app, works great

Chiming in, bought 2 computer from Techfast one 3070 deal and 5080 deal this year. Both absolutely great values and had no issue with build quality.

As long as you are okay with their lead time and just care about well specced PC, they are great! (they have always been within their delivery estimate or very close for me, but there are cases here in the comments showing they don’t always hit that during their popular deals.)

Not shilling or anything, genuinely happy full price paying customer. (zero affiliation with them or their people.) Just happy they are able to provide such good service and PC at very reasonable prices.

    • +10

I think the main issue with Techfast is that if everything run smoothly they are good; but when issues spike, their communication and customer service is delayed and questionable from many buyers' reviews.

      • I expect that going in and tbf I’d expect that from any company that delivers a assembled computer cheaper than its components without delivery fees.

As long as they deliver a working well assembled product, I am happy. When you have issues, I am happy to wait reasonable amount of time, again price of the absolute bargains we get from Techfast.

        • +3

"As long as they deliver a working well assembled product"
If it's delivered as expected. I'm in a hobby that waiting a product for months or even a year is a norm so patience is not my issue, same with many ppl. But Techfast has a history of over-promised the ETA then bring up excuses after that. If you can't commit to what you say, make a generous ETA instead.

          • @Masticccc: Yeap, not trying to defend them or anything. As someone who were closely following all the conditions around Nvidia launch and someone who builds pc and tinkers around all the time I just knew going in there was a good chance their timeline was very aggressive. So i expected it was pleasantly surprised for an almost on time delivery, but I guess people may not.

So absolutely right criticism. I guess I am saying despite that, I’d still recommend.

  • Is the ozb recommendation to pay for the windows activation or are there better deals and easy enough to install?

    • +10

sign up for free tafe course, get a student email account. use the student email account to get a windows key for life.

      install windows via usb stick

      • How do you get the Windows key?

      • I have a student email account. Can you please share the link to register for the Windows 11 key?

    • Look up windows activation scripts.

    • Can't you run Windows 10 unactivated anyway?

      • +1

Win 10 will no longer receive security updates from October

  • It cost 778? not 978? or is it because this is in different currency?

    • +1

you need to apply coupon on checkout

        • Nvm i did It thank you

  • +1

Hey Luke do you guys sell individual components at all?

    • Sent a PM to Luke for this for the intel offer, no reply since tho :(

      • +1

He has said a couple times in a past. They use to, but because of end customer problems they stopped doing it.

    • They wouldn't as they won't be able to make any money at all if you look at the prices above.

  • How do I get windows? I dont really want to add $170 for windows.

    • +2

Check previous comments, someone already asked that question.

  • Can you do this deal without the GPU please ? @luketechfast

  • For gaming, yesterday's Intel CPU's are better right?

    • +2

negligible but yes the 12400f is slightly better than the 5500 in single threaded application. In the end you are going to be hampered by the 4060. Also this comes with a larger nvme

      • Which would be better for a plex style nas and multiple 4K hardware transcoding streams ?

  • +1

    Case dimensions? Thanks Luke

    Found it 350 x 210 x 392mm (DWH)

  • +1

I am looking at buying this for light gaming but mostly to make music using Ableton. Mainly because my current system won't run win 11 and win 10 support will end in 5 months.

Anyone know how noisy this would be? I built my current system 12 (yes, 12!) years ago and the fan noise bugs me when I'm trying to record using the mic. I guess due to the age of my system it would really be struggling to run Ableton 11 hence the noisy fan.

I was thinking to upgrade to 32GB ram. I assume that would be better for Ableton, or would the system bottleneck elsewhere first?

The PSU I'm using is a pretty good one, but I don't know if PSU tech has changed since 2012 and if it would be fully compatible with new systems. It's specs are here

The 500W PSU that comes with this deal seems a bit low powered doesn't it? Given the price of this system I doubt it would be as good quality as the corsair either. I was thinking perhaps I should swap out the 500W with my 850W.

I know very little about the latest PC parts, but based on comments here, this seller seems pretty good.

    Thoughts/advice much appreciated.

    • +1

If your system happens to say something along the lines of "System doesn’t meet Windows 11 minimum requirements", it could be fixed by changing some settings in the bios. I had the same issue with my PC which was more than capable of running win11. I don't remember what the exact process was, but if you have the same problem, you can easily find a solution online.

      • Cheers. Google says this :

To ensure your system meets the BIOS settings required for Windows 11, you need to enable TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, and UEFI mode. Additionally, make sure your BIOS is up-to-date and CSM is disabled, if it's an option.

How old is your system though? Mine is 12 years old!

        • +1

That sounds about right - I think I followed those same steps.

I built my system about 6 years ago for around $600, so it's half the age of yours haha. With your PC being quite old, this Techfast one sounds like a worthy upgrade for you.

    • +1

Noisy fan might be because you're PC/fans are full of dust and are having to go harder than they should be (or just because they're old, or both)

CPU is more important than RAM for DAWs. Though check task manager, if you're maxing out your RAM capacity when using Ableton then yeah you'll need more RAM.

And no, 500W is perfectly fine for this build. 4060 is not a power hungry card and neither is the Ryzen chip. How old's your 850W? Is it past the MBTF 100,000 hour mark (going off your linked Corsair page)?

      • +1

I'm actually not too bad at keeping the fans and dust clear with compressed air.

Currently only have 8GB RAM but I think CPU maxes out more often. I'm not on it to check ATM.

I became a parent around the time of my system build, so it hasn't seen that much use, including the PSU. Still, if 500W won't be underpowered or noisy I will stick with it. Cheers

    • +1

Thanks man. Didn't think to check the power consumption as the power calculator said that the 500w would be pretty much at capacity and wouldn't support any additional components.

I've just requested an upgraded psw from my order this morning just in case.

  • Is the GPU Super series worth waiting? Planning a PCVR build, extra vram might be useful

  • +2

    Bit the bullet. Thanks!

  • Option to upgrade to 5700X3D/5800X/5800X3D etc?

  • Got the 5600 and upgraded CPU fan, hopefully a bit quieter. $50 delivery to Tas.

Will install win 11 when I get it.

Should I just let windows do the drivers installations?

    • +2

      Initially yes

Techfast includes relatively new drivers etc.. on the computers it sells, so Bios should be ok

You should update the Nvidia graphics driver after installing windows (noting they had issues recently however the most recent seems to have resolved most of them)

You know what we want Luke… We want the Intel ITX

Big fan of techfast - big fan over the past 6 years. 1st PC had some issues but tech fast support was great. 2nd PC going great.

  • Thanks, grabbed one for the old man.

  • I have a PS5 but I'm thinking of switching to PC more officially. I basically want to play 1080p and use DLSS to boost anything along the way. Totally have with either locked 40 or 60. Will this do the job for me?

  • Dyk how long it would take to build test and dispatch it? i bought one like a couple days ago and im based on nsw thanks

    • I ordered my on 30th April (before this deal), recieved the email said my order has progessed and in the window of most PC ships on 2nd May. My status is still "order placed" and no email came after it. Hopefully I can recieved the PC this week 🤞

      • Dang ok I’ve heard it’s rlly slow and I have to do a verification thing which I’m confused about and I was going to contact them but they don’t have a phone number.

  • Hi, are all the parts brand new?
