12100F-4060I-MAY7700-5080-MAY7700-5090-MAY

Howdy folks, firstly we managed to secure more ITX boards so I have created a new 4060 ITX system, this time starting with an i3-12100F with the i5-12400F as an upgrade option, to the same $688 price as last deal. As always limited supply so be quick.

And then we've secured some excellent pricing on Ryzen 7 chips and RTX 5080 and 5090 cards for these two new deals, which can't be found anywhere near this elsewhere. The 5090 system we've done is the current retail price for the card alone in many places…

Delivery ETAs 10-15-business days.

    Finally got one!

  • any idea if the case on the i3 build can be upgraded to the leaper edge or a case that could support a bigger gpu? @luketechfast

    • +2

We're just sticking with the smallest form factor case for these for now.

  • +13

    7800x3d with 5080 for 3k and I'll bite.

    • +3

I'm in the same boat, very close to pulling the trigger on the 5070ti + 7800x3d for 2.6kish, hard to justify the extra $600+ for a small performance difference unless the price is right.

      • 5080 or the 9000 amd series?

        • +4

From everything I've read 5070ti is only a slight improvement from the 9070xt so whatever is cheaper is the better deal between the 2. 5080 is a solid improvement to both the 5070ti and 9070xt but not if it's costing $600+ extra.

          • @OzBargainHunter123: I would argue it depends whos reviews you read as to which is better the 9070 xt or the 5070 ti

they are basically the same, price is your determining factor

            • @MrThing: From everything I've seen yes they're the same performance typically but for games that use ray tracing. Nvidias DLSS is supposedly much better than AMD's FSR. 5070ti's are also sitting around MSRP which I think is just the better deal

            • @MrThing: The 9070xt is closer in price to a 5070 than a 5070ti.

              • @Pacify: It is, hence the better buy the 9070xt is

  • +1

Should probably mention that the 5080s aren't on hand yet. Is there any update on the GameRocks, you said the distributor should be getting them on hand right about now?

    • +2

I received a response to an email I sent last week about my GameRock build from the January deal and was told "I can confirm we are still awaiting the arrival of the GameRock cards, they are due to arrive very shortly."

      • This update still applies, yes. The option to swap to the PNY Triplefan (on hand) is still available.

        • Does this mean the last round of 5080 builds will start going out soon?

  • +1

I have been out of the game for a while. What type of performance upgrade can I realistically expect if I upgrade from a i7 2600K/1080 to the base model offering you have here? Is it worth the jump? I mainly play older titles and am happy with 2k low-medium settings.

    • +3

Graphics performance would expect a 20-30% uplift but it's not really that big of a step up, 1080 being the flagship of its generation and the 4060 being the lowest tier.

      • And processor difference? The i7 2600k has been a worthy companion, but would this be a huge bottleneck in most modern titles? I would opt for the Intel Core i3-12400F over the 12100F.

        • Going off some synthetic benchmarks, you'll see 2x performance compared to the 2600k

      • +1

You have to take into account the new tech too. DLSS and frame gen will push it much further than just 30%.

    • +2

I'm sorry but I disagree with above poster. Huge improvement. Easily 50% for many games, some closer to 100% (really very title dependent, perhaps not as much in some older titles mind you). Big FPS boost for under $700, the value is there imo. Even if generally speaking the 4060 isn't a particularly 'value' card.

      • +1

I pulled the trigger, thank you.

  • Yeww got one!

  • Been out of the gaming for a while, but now my kid is wanting to play games like Fortnite - how is the ITX Gaming PC?

    • +2

      Absolutely fine for Fortnite.

  • Could anyone recommend a USB Wi-Fi dongle to use with the ITX build? I've got a Wi-Fi 6 router at home. I get it might not be the most performant, but one with external antennas would be a plus!

    • It would be better to get a PCIE Wi-Fi adapter if the motherboard has a spare slot, which i believe it does, right above the main graphics PCIE slot.

      • I would like to get a PCIe one - however looking at most ITX motherboards there's just one 16x PICe slot, since TechFast only lists a generic Intel H610M [ITX] Motherboard on the specs page, so I don't have my hopes up for an additional 1x PCIe slot.

        • Maxsun H610i should have the slot for a Wifi card and I doubt they'd be using anything else since this boards probably one of the cheapest.

  • +8

Only $5999 for gpu? Got one for each family member.

    Life's big purchases now include:

    1. House
    2. Car
    3. GPU
  • +7

    Already sold out for ITX?

  • Do you have 7800xt or better than 4060? If so how much to upgrade the budget $650 build?

    • It's already gone, but you're not going to find anything close to a 7800 XT that fits this build, there's not even a RX 7600 that fits it.

You'd have to wait for the 5060 if you want faster, or hope for a low powered RX 9060 XT or something.

edit: lol, I just noticed you ask this question every time this is posted. So I'm guessing this comment will go ignored too. But for anyone else, there is definitely no way a 7800 XT will run on this, plus it's out of production, plus I wouldn't run one off a 400W PSU anyway.

  • Not a techie but would like to know if ITX 12400F/12100F RTX 4060 build is enough to support a 4k monitor with movies and occasional 1080p gaming? And does it support wifi or only wired connection?
    Cheers

    • Yeah you can play with this PC for that type of thing just fine. It's wired only sadly, but just buy a USB WiFi adapter and you'll be fine!

      • i think u can also DIY add m.2 wifi module with these builds

        • Yeah, the Maxsun board has a CNVI interface available, but considering the guy above admitted to not being a techie, best to keep it simple with USB.

          • @KARMAAA: can you recommend a good wifi card to install? thanks

            • @brunodla: I put this one in mine, works well. Broke one of the antenna cables during so only have one antenna, still works well

              • @AngryAlfred: It's a bit confusing to me. This link you shared seems to be made for laptop and doesn't come with an antenna. Am I missing something?

                • @brunodla: Understandable. I bought from Techfast in this deal, check this comment and the replies

The PC came with a metal housing and connectors and antennas but no wifi card itself, it looks like this but without the actual card - I don't know the technical name to Google it properly. Then you have to disassemble the PC to get to the motherboard and install it see here. The Amazon card I linked fit and works

                  • @AngryAlfred: Thanks mate. Now everything makes sense. Just a last question, did you get Maxsun H610 itx with yours?

                    • @brunodla: Yeah the Maxsun, during that deal we got to choose the board though which doesn't seem to be the case now, it's also i5 instead of i3. Don't really have any complaints with it except it never sleeps when I tell it too and goes back to the login screen, and coming from MacBook Air the fans are very noticeable

                      • @AngryAlfred: Thanks mate, I saw some people saying that these generics PSU are loud, and changing the fan for a better brand like noctua improves significantly.

    • +1

It supports 1080p gaming perfectly, including games like Cyberpunk. Just lay off the ray tracing and it'd be fine.

For wifi you just need to add a USB dongle, but it doesn't come with it already.

  • I know nothing about gaming so I asked Perplexity and it says:

"The RTX 4060 is well-suited for playing virtually all popular and recent games at 1080p with high or ultra settings."

    That isn't true is it?

    • +2

It's not really accurate, there's a few games that exceed 8GB of VRAM at 1080p and Ultra Settings, so you will see stutters. But if you bump down to Medium settings you'll be able to play pretty much any game no problem at 1080p.

      • 1080p medium would be fine. Next time.

    • +1

100% not true. 4060ti maybe can
4070 for 1440p high or ultra, 4070ti for 4k for high or ultra

    • +3

Great lesson here in not relying on AI for advice

  • +1

Bugger, missed out the ITX for like the 4th time haha

  • I need that ITX one, but out of stock!

  • +4

@luketechfast Can you guys stock the ITX one for more than 5 minutes? Just keep making them and you'll keep selling them. Now I have to wait again.

    • -1

He mentioned a few times the limiting factor is how many motherboards they can get, which isn't many.

      • Just backorder them at this rate. It’s genuinely annoying missing out 2 hrs after this deal goes up. People have jobs.

        • +1

Back ordering based on opaque delivery ETAs is something we are trying to do less of. If we don't have control over the supply chain, people do not tend to enjoy waiting with no available ETAs. If we do do it it tends to be around major product launch, but overall it is not an especially smooth model. So we post deals based on confirmed availability on quantity and timing wherever possible.

          • +2

@luketechfast: Could you try a preorder run for this line of ITX models? Clearly the demand is there and people just want to order. If I keep missing 2 hr windows of availability it starts to get frustrating. I’ve wanted one of these for a while now.

            • @ichigodan: I would like to see a slightly more expensive build with a different mobo/case if that's what it took, I really want one of these for minor use but at a certain price point their 8700F builds become more appealing anyway.

I have missed the last few posts by less than 2 hours and they had been OOS for over an hour, I bet if they put them up for pre order we would have a PLE EVGA 3080 situation all over again.

  • Brother needed that ITX for his work as a teacher (uses Solidworks which needs a dedicated GPU)!

    Sold out.

  • It is unlikely but is there a store like these guys that do computers in horizontal cases

  • +1

Would the $658 be a good first pc for a child?

    • A good first gaming PC? Yeah.

Just for cobbling together PowerPoints for school and watching YouTube? No, completely overkill.

  • The one that i want out of stock!

    • As always 😀

  • out of stock

  • I'm hoping we can get a mATX style 12400F/1060 build with the larger case and PSU in the near future around the 800 mark?

  • RTX 5090 - Double the performance, double the price

    • Not even double the performance of the 4090, despite what sensei jensen said

      • Probably should’ve said double the compute instead.

  • +1

Hey I have seen videos online that Intel GPUs are great value for money for low to mid tier builds. I haven't seen any deals for them and not overly informed. What are your thoughts of their performance and what is the suggested value for money build? I don't want to have to go too budget and upgrade in a years time. My use case is Diablo 4 and light gaming, not overly fussy on 4k etc

    • AMD CPUs shit all over intel these days

      • +1

        He said GPU… not CPU…

  • +5

Just as a heads up for everyone. I recently purchased a PC from tech fast and the 240 Liquid cooler they used is a POS. It's insanely noisy even at super low usage. Will be looking to replace it eventually.

    • +3

An AIO is a waste of money, a quality air cooler is better, cheaper and less hassle than an AIO……read: phantom spirit or peerless assassin

  • $688/$658 for a 4060 build, that's really good price. It will be perfect if the case has front usb ports.

    • +3

It’d be even better if they let us buy it.

  • +3

these builds are terrible, its akin to throwing an LS engine into a hyundai getz………..AMD 7700 with a RTX 5090 ………

at a minimum it should be a 7800x3d

    • I mean you want a deal corners will be cut. Price is literally for just the GPU……

    • You good? It's obvious they're trying to get rid of excess old stock by bundling them along with a GPU, essentially for free.

No one put this together thinking the 5090 was going to be kept in there.

  • +1

6000$ for a GPU. What a world we live in

  • Luke, are you planning to do any build from $1300-$1800 any time soon? Lots of <$800 and >$2400 builds recently.

  • 5090 build is cheaper than the last deal. Upgrade this to 9800x3d, 360 cooler, and MB.
Then the only difference is 9800x3d vs 9900x3d. (+$100 RRP)

Price difference is 6600 vs 7000.

Sad story I bought the last one.

  • Can you do the cheaper ones in a normal size case and motherboard?

  • -2

Just build one yourself with new and used parts. I just built an i5-9400F with RX5700XT for $294. Played the Riven 2024 remake nicely at 1440p epic graphics settings https://www.facebook.com/share/p/16YTTz7G96/

    • Im still back in i5 3550k, ddr 3, r290 land. The only thing i could reuse is my hard drives and case

  • Dang wish this was around when I got the Nebula Hellfire 5080 combo. Way better deal.

About 500 cheaper all up after equivalent modifications of 9800x3d and 64gb ram. Ah well. Nebula really stings you on the upgrades.

  • +3

A caveat for all people wanting to buy from "Techslow" I'm not saying don't buy, I'm merely saying "caveat emptor" - buyer be aware. I sent my 4080S i9-14900kf to them in late March of this year, it took several weeks for RMA/Warranty to get to it before confirming the CPU was fried (known issues with 13th and 14th gen intel chipsets).

So far for the past two weeks (appreciate it's a busy time because of Easter/Anzac day long weekends) it has been sitting idle since warranty emailed me that the machine is ready to go but wanting to confirm my address/contact details. Basically not monitoring or checking emails.

TLDR - If you want a prompt response, good communication with your order or warranty/RMA, you may wish to consider your options. Techfast is a good company with a solid review history. But their biggest Achilles heel is communication or lack thereof (you can only contact via a "contact us" form or messaging Luke via ozb) may be time for a Whatsapp number or discord server due to the amount of units sold on ozbargain, alone.

  • Dirt cheap or outrageously expensive, why no midrange option say around $1500?

  • If I wanted to outfit a computer lab of 24 computers would you guys be able to provide a class set?

  • Can you please suggest something for gaming and streaming simultaneously with decent FPS yet not lagging while streaming. Thank you

  • No option for a wireless card on the cheapest model here?

  • Anyone know if the ITX build will come back in stock anytime soon or if there's a similar deal somewhere else?
