Should mention they are NUC based PC…nothing wrong with what they are. Just gotta be aware not one for future proofing upgrades.

    What's the PSU rated at?

I would consider one if I was in the market. Just slap in a GPU of your choice and good to go.

    • +1

What size GPU can you get into that thing? 5060 TI 16gb?

      • -8

        See below for GPU size.

The NUC is ugly. The white version should be offered as standard.

The iGPU is too weak. The graphics upgrade option makes it too expensive.

The OP should have made it a white NUC with 8gb 4060 for $950 and it would sell much better - a lost opportunity

        • I removed the horrible design on the grey one with acetone. Easily done.

        • What kind of loser sits there all day beating the meat to the colour of their NUC? Out of sight, out of mind, who gives a crap.

    • Says clearly on their site, 750w gold

    • +4

Thanks, I updated the headline. It's a 750W SFX PSU

  • Is this available on ebay?

  • @BPC Technology
If I upgrade to 32gb SODIMM ram what speeds am I getting?

    • +1

Upgrade for $100? For that, much you can get a new kit

      • As I wrote that comment I was sourcing the market for SODIMM ram and prices are higher then expected atm.

    • +1

      usually 3200MHz, as DDR4 becomes a rarity

  • Can I just buy the board?

  • +1

Would this case fit a MSI 3090 Gaming X trio? 3 slot

And do we have the option to buy it without the support.

    Thanks

  • @BPC Technology Can you shove a PowerColor Radeon Reaper RX 9070 XT 16GB GDDR6 Graphics Card in this? Also does it have 2 x 8pin to power it?

    • +2

for max GPU SIZE: 2.5 Slot, 285mm length, 45mm height max. We tend to use 2-fan models to be absolutly sure. Yes the PSU comes with 3 8pin connectors

    • +1

You'll be able to fit it in, BPC is just being safe with their 285 mm, as it is a pain to put anything between 285 and 300mm in it. The case is rated for 320mm GPU but requires dismantling the case and the PSU.

But the RX 9070 Xt is probably too hot of a card, and will choke on not getting enough air from the side vent on the side panel.

  • +1

    White case +$99 😂

Besides that, this looks like a pretty great deal.

  • Great deal. Shame i just upgraded my system to 5800x3d over the weekend

    • +2

Where did you even find one? I settled for a 5800x lat week cos they were all gone.

      • +2

Market place actually. Not brand new. Could have gotten this one if I didn't buy that already. Mine cost $500 for CPU, mobo, ram, intercooler and psu. I added $40 fractal case (early deal from PC case gear) SSD from my old computer and GPU that I already have. So a nice little 1080p ultra machine for$920 with quality parts

  • +5

I don't even remotely need this and I still want to buy one, it's a great price.

  • +1

I dont know a lot about pcs, but seems like a great mini gaming setup with a GPU added - something to sit near the tv and run steam os maybe?

  • My 3080 definitely wouldnt fit in this case hey?

    • Almost definitely. Depends on the model though
A founders edition or an Inno3D RTX 3080 TWIN X2 might barely fit but most 3080s wont.

      • thanks mate

    • +2

If its more than 2.5 slot width (more than 52mm) and/or more than 300 mm long, I don't think this PC is good for your GPU.

      • thanks mate

    • +14

No audio speakers in the case or nuc

They were a thing in the 90s
People still want a speaker in the case today?

        • +3

Just to clarify, do you mean speaker speakers? Or debugging speaker that beeps system error codes?

Because I can't remember the last time I had a PC with built in speakers, unless it was an iMac or an all in one

          • +1

@DeToxin: The posted link indicates the computer has no audio out, so you need to pass audio through HDMI.

            • +2

@poglet: Ah that is weird, you would expect at least a 3.5mm port

              • +1

@DeToxin: The compute unit is really tiny, space is at a premium.

edit: I didn't realise it supports 3.5mm via the front case panel though, only this case doesn't seem to have a front panel with it.

      • +2

I believe they are saying there is no front or rear 3.5mm jack so you need to pass audio through HDMI.

        • +1

Yeah, there is no 3.5mm jack. I've been doing fine with bluetooth audio, but as you say, HDMI audio would work, or possibly using a USB-C to 3.5mm would also work.

    • Inbuilt speakers requirement doesn’t sound like something that would be on them but the rest is valid comments

  • +1

That looks like one weird PC. At least as sold at that price.

A really fast 16 core CPU that can use up to over 200W.

    Old slow DDR4-3200 RAM.

    Slow integrated graphics.

    A slow small SSD.

It looks like a PC that wasn't so much designed as thrown together from whatever was laying around left over. And the good price - considering what that CPU model alone costs - was the result of that.

    • Yes it's unbalanced. Sharp price but a mix match of parts.

    • +2

Parts aren’t chosen by BPC, the NUC is a mini PC unit with CPU and mobo part of an integrated package (non-standard mini board size). The package only has SODIMM slots on the motherboard.

      • -4

SSD and RAM size and speed are BPC choices. DDR4 is not their choice. There are 3 m.2 slots.

        • +3

          SSD yes
RAM speed no, SoDIMM DDR4 doesn’t go higher than 3200MHz

    • +1

It's based on a NUC. If those things matter to you, then use other parts/don't buy it. But don't compare it to other full sized, desktop PCs.

It's a gen 12, so atleast 2.5 years old at this point, can't expect top tier parts/performance. Price makes it affordable for light-to-medium level gaming.

    • +2

DDR4-3200 is the max for a 12th gen CPU, you're not going to get any benefit going over that

It's bring your own GPU as well. You can just buy a GPU to go with it if needed.

I agree on the SSD, but presumably that's to keep the price down. It's still sharp pricing at $600 even if it came without a SSD.

  • +10

    Fantastic deal. Before you buy.

I have bought one from BPC 2 years ago. These get fairly hot. Make sure to check CPU, chipset and motherboard temps, because when i first got mine, they were hitting 100 degrees and throttling the PC.

I replaced my thermal pad on the back on the NUC board with upsiren thermal putty which brought it down to 85 degrees. Do not do this, instead, bring it back to BPC and tell them its a manufacturing issue, since these Intel NUC boards are prone to having no contact on the thermal pads on some parts, and hopefully you'll get one with a proper thermal pad contact.

Back SSD slot runs at around 70-75 degrees in my experience, uncomfortable and probably damaging to an SSD there. the two main ssd slots will run well enough.

Very fragile motherboard, be extra careful and gentle with any taking apart of this NUC. Wifi antenna cables are something to watch out for too, do not break them like I did.

Only go for dual slot (not 2.5 or 3 slot) GPUs with a max length of 302mm, as if you go for more than that, you'll need to dismantle the whole PC, I really do not recommend that.

Case fans are adequate, and when I tried replacing them with Artic P12 fans, did nothing to improve temps.

    • +1

      Also, no 3.5mm audio.

These do get dusty, and I recommend dusting them every 3 months.

    • +2

100% support what you've said here. Bought one for my younger brother from last year's $700 deal. Chucked in a radeon 7600. But it always had issues with thermals. Bought a lot of thermal grizzlies and PTM7950s but didn't do a lot. Frame rates on CS2 were abysmal for such a strong CPU and only things I could narrow it down to were the CPU temps.
Even though fantastic value for this price, but it is a bit of a trap and there's no way to upgrade anything beyond this config.

    • Good to see that BPC has added their own wifi antennas this time.

    • PCH temps were the main reason for why my PC was throttling. Thermal putty fixed that as there was no thermalpad contact on the PCH.

    • Thanks for the update, can't be bother buying one now.
Can't justify the work that needs to be done to get this pc up and running…..

      • If you're not someone who likes to mess around with their PC, yeah I don't recommend.

        • I'm tech savy but when you buy a somewhat prebuilt pc you expect it to work out the box with having to tinker with all the bits and pieces.
Just puts me off a bit having to do so much more work for it to function properly is a bit of a joke

  • Case dimensions? Can't seem to find any specs online.

  • Does the mainboard feature 10GbE?

  • Would this be a good kids first PC for Minecraft and Fortnite?

    • +2

As one that owns one of these, I say no. Look for a prebuilt option from Techfast or Nebula, as are frequently upvoted on ozbargain.

    • Not as is. You'd need a GPU upgrade to use instead of the integrated graphics, then it'd be bit of an overkill IMO for those games. But under $1000 all up in a small form factor, i'd say it's a winner.

Everyone will / can have different opinions btw.

  • I just think it would be important to state that its not a NUC but a Nuke, quite the explosive difference you would think, although it has all the makings of a nuc at a fraction of the price, so that is the important difference!

    • Well Intel calls it a NUC funnily enough.

    • +1

the important hardware inside is NUC compute unit, so its a NUC in a larger chassis to faciliate an external GPU etc

  • Bought this one on a similar deal 2 years ago, removed ram as I got them from Amazon, 64gb ram and 500gb+2Tb ssd, works like a charm!

  • Why this instead of a used laptop which you cash get for same on marketplace?

    • +5

Why this instead of a train?

      • Which you can also afford?

    • +3

Because you cannot install a GPU in the marketplace laptop.

      • Thanks. Good to know. But how to install a gpu? And which gpu is recommended?

  • +3

Not that good, friend of mine had one and he said if you use almost any GPU it will get choked by the side panel and overheat

  • Other thing to watch out for with these, is make sure your non glass side panel has the vent over the PSU.

  • Would asus 1070ti turbo fit?

  • +1

    Does it play Crysis?

  • What would be a good value graphics card that would fit this case that could comfortably play Minecraft.

  • I would have already ordered if my 1080ti fit in it. I've been looking at replacing my 8700 and hopefully getting something more compact for about a year now but everytime I price it up its costing around $1200-$1500 excluding a GPU upgrade which I don't need.

  • Is there ways to increase airflow in there or attach an external water cooler anywhere?

Edit - im no computer guru. Last time I installed a PC was 2012

    • no, the cooler is part of the NUC compute unit chassis, while it has a desktop CPU in it it doesnt have the mounts etc for aftermarket cooler

  • +4

Bought one of these BPC Tech frankensteins before… not good.

Very noisy blower cooler trying to cool the cpu, (single channel !!!) sodimm ram, and ssd (they give you 2x265gb). Mind you I had the 12400f so I can't imagine how god noisy this one'll be. (High 80s on cpu, 90s on gpu under full load, will throttle). Extreme negative pressure (No fresh intake) with any possible porous airflow holes for the gpu to breathe in the glass side panel being small and prone to choking out

Strange issues regarding Windows finding its strange drivers, wireless connectivity with WiFi & Bluetooth frequently dropping out. Just forget trying to find any sort of manufacturer support or drivers cause Intel dropped responsibility for software updates for NUC products after selling the mini pc business to ASUS.

Looks cool but that's about it. They make these to move old stock but considering how its been in stock for at least 3 years, they don't sell well.

    • +1

Valid issues to bring up, but this time it does seem like they are offering 2 sticks of ram for dual channel operation, and a single 512gb SSD.

I haven't experienced wifi issues, but do get the occasional Bluetooth audio glitch.

    • +1

This one is 2x 8GB & a single 512GB NVMe based on the specifications.
      Thermals on the other hand…

  • How much for an upgrade to 128 GB RAM?

    • +1

you can't, this system maxes out at 2x32gb=64gb. also you'll certainly find prices much lower sourcing the kit yourself.

  • +1

    12900 != 12900K(F) that you linked.

  • It doesn''t make sense. An AMD 6800H kills it for graphics. Like this.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/920908

So what would you be doing that benefits from the high end, other than graphics, cpu?

    • You can add a GPU to this and make it way more powerful.

There are other mini PCs with Oculink ports as well but then you need an adapter.

    • The intel onboard gfx has quick sync which can be quite useful for some video editing and encoding et

  • Maybe it is better to move the 12900 to a bigger case with more fans and add a i5 12400 to this rig and make it as a HTPC.

  • Does the PCIe slot support bifurcation? Could make a nice and powerful flash NAS.

  • I got this with the b580, I look forward to it as a tv gaming pc.

Is the antenna a stick antenna or a wired antenna/place further away?

  • can we add ram to 32gb?

  • You are essentially getting this in a better (roomier) case with RAM and SSD throw in. It’s an excellent deal but I’d really like to understand the thermals. I had the previous version (11 Extreme) in the default case and it ran (way, way, way too) HOT.

    https://www.jw.com.au/product/asus-nuc-12-i9-extreme-kit-bar…

Also, OP, why the heck is the white one +$99??
