Spiegelau Perfect Serve Tasting Glass Set 4pce [Wine Glasses - Boxed] $29.00 Delivered @ KitchenWarehouse

40

I was looking for a set of nice wine glasses and this appears to be a very good deal for a quality brand set of 210ml German made wine glasses.

They appear to be in a nice box so could make a good gift for someone.

Site says free delivery over $29.95 in their banner but it actually over $29 so these ship free - Shipping Coupon has been removed from site

Have found for $39 + $11 Shipping (Peter's of Kensington) - $79.95 is supposedly the RRP

        • Peter's price is a better indicator.

I'd rather go for Riedel Vinum for an everyday set - though we are enamoured with our Zaltos…

        • @billbro: The cheapest price i can see for Riedel Vinum glasses is ~$22 a glass, and that's only if you buy 8 of them. Most prices seem to be more like $80+ for a 2 pack. That seems like a pretty expensive everyday glass, and not really in the same ballpark as the Spieglaus?

        • @Arsenal: Don't look at the Zaltos then LOL. Myer have the Vinum for $59.97 for two. That is still too rich for me with my record of losses. Havent seen for $22 but havent looked that much; An outlay of $22 x 8 would not be in my budget anyway. Got a couple free at a Qantas expo a couple of years ago though.

        • @Arsenal: We don't have the Spieglaus, but I had thought the Vino Grande was in the same ballpark as the Vinums (I had a cursory glance and I think I saw them as part of the sale items Oops saw them on Peter's).

You don't have to buy 8 for $22, depends on what sales are on - I'm looking at 4 of them for just over $22 as a replacement everyday set.

I get a bit paranoid when using the Zaltos.

We actually started off with Kmart stems… I thought I could skimp out, turns out I can't - plus when you are drinking an expensive drop and consider the usage of the stems, the Zaltos end up being entirely worth it for us.

        • @billbro:

Is that you Malcolm Turnbull? :)

        • @jdr: I would very much like to be… maybe not with the polls, but at least he wouldn't have to be worried about breaking a Zalto.

Actually, he would probably use Riedel Somm?

        • @billbro: and he would have a very very good nbn connection

    • Yes. My interest was wine glasses because, for some reason, they seem to suffer from the most 'accidents' around here.

  • How well are these packaged. In terms of not getting broken during shipping?

    • I must admit, I have never had an item (including glassware) damaged in transit. These companies are very experienced in packaging these days.

      But their website says:

      "Goods Arrived Damaged?

If, for some reason, your goods arrive damaged or inoperable we will do everything we can to fix the issue. Obviously, this is our responsibility and we will correct things as quickly as possible. Just call us on our toll free number 1800 332 934 or email us at [email protected]"

They also have a few stores where can click & collect if you happen to live near one.

Bought wine glasses for myself and the old fashioned glasses for a christmas present. Cheers!

  • If you are into the fancy glasses then you might want to look at the Riedal site directly.

I keep going to the tasting nights so I've got about 6 sets of the tasting glasses. It makes a pretty spectacular dinner party to pull out all the varietal glasses. This allows you to get a set of 4 good glasses for roughly $100 - $150, depending on what glasses they have in the set.

I wash my glasses by hand, I don't care what the Miele guys tell me, and I've got one of these. It is really cheap and works well.
