A 2.5kw reverse cycle air conditioner is cheaper than this…why would you buy one of these noisy overpriced things that are ugly enough to be considered modern art?!

I'll place it next to my bottle of Voss.

Bcos it's Dyson, like Bose & iphones. It's a life style purchase never mind the functionality.

Dyson makes good cordless vacuums, but this is the product that sucks the most in their range. At least its quieter than previous generations, but it should be as the airflow is poor.

    • sucks or blows?

Wait till you see their $600 hair dryer.

    • I can second that - they're pathetic and expensive BS.

  • +4

I could pay someone to blow me for less than that!

  • If these actually cooled the air like a portable aircon with, then it would be worth the price if not more but $600 for a fan, id rather stick to a fan with blades

  • I can't justify a $600 fan. May it be cooling plus heating or just single function. Will survive with a $20 box fan and replace every 2 years

    • I agree the $600 price mark can make some people walk away without hesitation.

For those who can afford and like to try different product, it worth to give it a go.

This modem comes with air purifier and greatly helped my buddies during thunderstorm asthma time.

$170 XiaoMi purifier can be in discussion but it does not have heated fan function.

Plenty ladies spent $1000 - $3000 (or more) for a bag. A $600 fan is really justifiable in comparison.

      • It's meant I haven't had a sinus attack this year and only had to use a spray twice. For someone who gets blockages that make it feel like my teeth are getting pushed out from the inside, it's worth it :)
It runs every night and it's actually reduced my overall electricity bill.
But I can also understand the drawbacks… If you want a stand alone cooling implement this is not it.

    • Question guys, which will be better, this one

      or this one

      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-GVA-G30BGW16-30cm-White-Grey…

Need to buy 2 or 3 as we can't afford the bill to have the AC in our lounge room to be on 24/7 in summer.

Thanks in advance for any input

It's a glorified fan/fan heater in one unit. $600 - people must be gullible to by this. The whole marketing BS about 'buffeting' air of a traditional fan, seems they can sell anything to suckers…

Better off spending a bit extra on an actual reverse cycle A/C will use a lot less power to heat than a fan heater (which is really what this Dyson is at the end of the day).

  • Easily the worst fans you can buy. 12 BigW fans are better, not even hyperbole.

  • This fan has the built-in air purifier. Though it is still cheaper to buy a standalone purifier and fan/heater comapred to buying this.

  • Makers of the worst-airflow fans. I love me some sticker shock and metallic paint on platic tho.

  • The steel fans from Bunnings are the best imo but may not be the best for noise

    • The noise-to-airflow ratio of my sister's Dyson heater/cooler is the worst I've experienced on any fan I've ever used. Can't speak of this model but can't imagine it being good.

  • Have not had the pure but the am05 hot /cool and the original tower one are OK on low speed but to get decent air flow you have to turn up the speed and they are incredibly noisy.

  • i picked one up for 599 over winter, i would say the heating is ok, the 'cool' is almost non existent unless its going flat stick, then it's loud, which is expected i suppose. You can control it via an app, setup schedules, remote on/off, temp and fan speed, the remote is basic, but small and not backlit, so its hard to use in the dark.

it's better than a cheap heater, but the value proposition is low.
