Where to Get LARGE Quality Rugs in Melbourne?

Hi guys,

I am looking to purchase a large quality rug for the living room.

Sizing will be around 320cm x 350cm or somewhere around there.

Budget is around $1k (flexible)

Do you guys have any recommendations for qstores with good selections and quality?

Thanks.

  • I bought an ex display one that size at nick scali before Xmas. Usually $3k

They had a decent range of others ex display available from a few hundred to just over $1k in that size. This was the Preston store, which is pretty new and not a huge amount of foot traffic so I was ok with it being ex display

    • Should add, happy with quality. It replaced a smaller Hali rug, which is high end and it feels just as good.

  • Consider sisal. Fantastic durability, easy to clean, hard to stain. Don't be scared that they're not soft and fluffy like some alternatives - we have them as "sit-ons" (as well as runners/mats) and they are great.

Order to size. Here's one supplier, there are more:

  • Don’t be fooled by some retail stores, while some do have exclusive stock others are just meh and put huge mark ups on rugs you can source elsewhere. For a 3m rug the price in store will be high
We saw a rug that size in a retail store for $1400 which we loved
Found the name of the rug’s design in the website
Googled the name and found they were manufactured in India, found a seller on eBay shipping the exact same rug and others the store stocked for $500, after applying ebay promo codes and getting free shipping we couldn’t be happier.

    • I'm in the same boat. Can I ask which store in Melbourne you saw this rug, and then possibly which eBay seller you bought off in the end?

      • hey mate cant remember the store, wasnt a big chain but they had one showroom in most capitals iirc. found the rug in an online store for 30% less, then more than 50% less on ebay by googling the design name/number, and found 1-3 sellers.
purchased from strategic-2013, have heaps of rugs

        • Hey thanks for that. Can you remember what suburb the showroom's in or any inkling of its name? It'll give me more information to try to research with! Cheers.

        • @realsniper09:
hey mate, just sent you a message - hopefully received it

  • I usually just go to carpet stores and buy their remnants (or a few metres) and get them overlocked.

Not any cheaper but you can choose the exact size and colour.

  • There are a few decent online retailers who sell extra large rugs like the one you've after OP.

My wife and I were happy with this one - a scandi style natural rug - which we got in the 320x230 sizing.
