Bridging Visa

Me and my mrs have been together for two years, I have sponsored her for bridging couple Visa and it has been 12months, if I where to upgrade my status to a married couple at the marriage registry would this reduce the waiting cool down period and or be waived to receive her PR?

What did the department of immigration say when you asked them?

    • I will call them soon enough but wanted some feed back on other my situation thankyou.

  • You didnt sponsor her for a bridging couple visa, there is no such thing. I think you have applied for sc820/801 visa.

  • Apparently the bridging Visa has to be 4 years but if you were married it is a lot shorter to gain PR from Visa which I am considering to do, I’m Sydney don’t know if it the same with all states.

Have you heard of Federation of Australia? = same in all states

      • lol! It's the USA.. United States of Australia.

  • bridging visa is the visa your on while waiting for a reply to the1 u applied for.

I don't think you will have any problems. That Peter Dutton chap seems a nice and reasonable sort of guy.

He has paid his Australian Border Force head Roman Quaedvlieg, $360,000 to go on leave to do nothing.

    • I need a gov job. Have an office fling and get paid $360k for your hard work.

Normally affairs cost you but this blokes making a profit

      • Don't forget whilst having the fling, if you 'injure' yourself, claim it as a work related injury…

  • Merged from Bridging Visa Cancellation

Me and my partner have been together around 2 and a half years, but we have separated since early December. she is on the bridging Visa A, and she has most of documents. I’m trying to google for a contact number for more info on how to cancel it, would I need a lawyer? There’s no point to leave it at this I mean what if I meet someone and need to be with them and they find out I’m having a partnership Visa with someone else? That wouldn’t be nice.

    • leave the country, bridging visa A will be automatically cancelled.

You can't leave the country on Bridging visa A. You would need to apply for Bridging visa B to leave the country.

Currently in the process of doing that for my wife.

        • you can leave the country, but you cant re-enter.

bridging visa B is to re-enter the country.

OP is asking on how a bridging visa A gets cancelled and the answer is by leaving the country,

    • at this point of time, you can only inform IMMI regarding the separation.

She can then continue her partner visa application without you.

IMMI will not even advise you of your partner's visa application outcome.

Didn't you just ask about Tiffany n Co the other day? lol

on 28/12/2017 - 11:16, OP was asking if marriage can speed up the partner visa application.

        and now

but we have separated since early December.

        does not add up.

You were talking about marriage late December, seems dodgy to me.

Now we know why you don't call up immigration when you have a question.

  • Entire story was we aren’t toegether since then, but I have put so much effort into trying to repair this relationships, but sometimes nothing can be done, this is the correct procedure as for now.

We applied for a bridging Visa since February last year 2017.

    • you did not apply for a bridging visa.

it must have been a 820 Onshore Partner Visa. you need to inform IMMI ASAP.

  • It’s subclass 010 bridging Visa A

    • No. You cannot apply for a Bridging Visa.

A Bridging visa A can only be granted to allow the applicant to remain in Australia during the processing of your application.

  • Documents say subclass WA” have been granted. Partner temporary UK partner 820

    • Yup as I mentioned earlier. you and your partner applied for the Temporary Partner Visa subclass 820 and not a Bridging Visa.

  • I will get into trouble if they find it I don’t cancel this as it’s not legally right. If I cancel it how ever this is done, will this mean she will loose all rights to have working full hours or kicked back overseas?

you can withdraw your sponsor application,

your partner withdraws their sponsor application, the bridging visa remains valid for 28 days.
