Need Help- AMD Display Issue, New Win 7 Install

Odd Win 7 display issue

Okay, I've just done a legit Win 7 DVD install to an SSD. Activated, all good.

On trying to install the ATI 5450 display driver, it does install, swears to the gods it's “fine”, yet both my on-screen icons & taskbar are partially obscured?

I tried restarting, tried 70/75/85 htz nada.

WTH is going on? All I did was add an SSD?

Ideas?

Ta

  • Under my digital flat panels there should be scaling options where you can adjust the underscan and overscan.

  • Does your monitor have an "auto" button?

    • The media PC has been in the main living room for some time. The screen is a FHD 40". I've removed the 500GB HDD for the time being, so I can create a fresh Win 7 install to a 120GB SSD in order to image it. Once it's imaged, I upgrade to 10 & image that. I then place the original HDD back.

All I'm doing is future-proofing. I prefer 7 for as long as possible, but want a 10 image ready to go.

So, prior to swapping the old HDD to a new SSD, the TV display was perfect.

I have no idea why it refuses to display correctly now? Same PC, other than the SSD.

And yes, I've tried ALL of the buttons on the TV itself. As I say— it works perfectly on the HDD if I place it back into the media PC.

  • Go to www.drp.su , download and give a try.

    • I have the full, off-line DP.

But the driver from AMD is exactly the one I used previously.

    Need to enable overscan. Pic

This is exactly what needs to be done.

  • I've just been through EVERY setting in CCC—- nothing changes it.

I put the old HDD in, all is fine. It is the SAME driver & the SAME PC & the SAME video card….

PS: Overscan was already ticked. I unticked & saved. Then reticked & saved. Nada.

  • Hopefully you get if fixed by the end of the year

    • Of course it has to (profanity)-up at this late hour! I figured, drop a small SSD in & get it started- should take an hour or so—- nope!

      I guess I'll have to image 7 as-is, even if it's ridiculous & has no solution….ffs!

Seriously- never have I seen this in 20 years of PC work.

    Got it!

I completely removed ALL video drivers, restarted, reinstalled them. I then had the ability to adjust under/overscan (prior could tick/untick, but not slide).

    Ta & HNY all!
