US Customs seems to care about counterfeiting but luckily the Aussie one doesn't. Probably the one and only good thing about our customs in terms of convenience.
My friend tried buying a GHD hair straightener from a Chinese eBay seller a few years back. Not long after it arrived in Aus customs called her saying it had been confiscated because it was a counterfeit and that it will be destroyed.
In Australia customs only claim and eventually destroy large commercial quantities of goods entering Australia.
If it's for personal use (ie you are not buying like five) or the person sending them to Australia doesn't send them in a giant shipment, you should be fine.
