  • How many years is this for?

    • based off this line.
      $756 over 36 months.
      i'm guessing 3yr

edit: looks like 2yr if u click through..

64gb model might be worth mentioning too

  • +5

    Ewwww 36months

    • What, have to put up with 3 years of Vodafail?

      • +1

        its 2 years

I'm pretty sure you need to go 24 months to get the $31 loyalty discount

But its a month to month contract - but the handset is split over 24 equal payments (with no extra fees/interest)

You can pay the handset off at anytime and cancel the month to month sim only contract (though I believe you'd lose the $31 loyalty bonus off the plan so this would be silly)

I did it - sold the handset straight away for $1000 and pay the equivalent of $39 a month for this awesome plan

    • So you took a net loss of 220ish on the phone to get a $39 plan? and 20k points?

      • +1

I was on a 24m sim only with Voda and could only upgrade without fee to a handset plan. So this was a great deal. Previously I was paying $46 for 22GB so I'm now paying less for more

I haven't seen a sim only plan under $40 with as many inclusions as this anywhere else

  • Also Qantas points appears within a few days.

  • 64Gb or 256Gb?

    • +2

Go for the one that holds more porn

      • +15

So an android phone with an sd card then

        • +6

Don't know who negged you. You spoke the truth but it seems someone cannot handle the truth. I've upvoted you.

          @edfoo:
I think it's because I said "android phone". Someone's head exploded

NO DEAL, this is not a good price at all

    • -1

show me a better plan/handset for the money?

      • The S8/ iPhone 8 for $59/ month for 24 Months with 20GB data on Optus was a much better deal.

        • I agree. It was even better with HN 200$ EFPTOS card.

        • +4

a lesser phone with almost half the inclusions?

I appreciate that not everyone needs 36gb - but if you do, and you want the iPhone 8 Plus - there's no better plan out there for the money

        • be nice if they had data sharing sims on the 36gb deal …. means you can have wireless internet at home without wearing down the phone battery if you don’t stream TV at home.

was revently renting a holiday house with no internet so used a sim in a wifi dongle … worked a treat for the family.

        ip8+ 64GB (RRP $1229)

V:$695.8 ($547 as student )for 2yrs service fee
        O:$388.8 for 2yrs service fee (24mths $64/mth with 20GB data)

        ip8+ 256GB (RRP $1479)

        V: ?
        O:$297 for 2yrs service fee (24mths $74/mth with 20GB data)

So if you need that extra 16GB data and 850mins intl calls monthly then go for V, otherwise O still has the better deal.

Dont whinge about the RRP, if you have the way to get cheaper price, then go for SIM only plan.

        • but hold on - your comparing the Voda plan with 36GB, 20k QF points and int'l calls with an Optus plan with 20GB and no QF points?

Cheaper doesn't equal better (if it comes with less)

        • @digitalane: O got 150mins intl calls. As I said, if you really need that EXTRA 16GB DATA AND 850MINS INTL CALLS then go for V. 20K QF pts ≈ $120 MYER gc? Anyway, you still need to pay $307 more in 2yrs for these extra.

More expensive doesnt even close to better (if it comes with cheaper)

        • -5

          @stan-C:

your logic is totally flawed. Its like saying a Volkswagen is better than a Porsche because its cheaper

Plus if all you're doing with 20k QF points is getting a $120 Myer gift card - you've got a lot to learn!

        • +2

@digitalane: I dont even know what are you arguing about. I have listed all the statistic there and told others for someone need more data and intl calls to choose V. Yeah, you are right, I really need to learn a lot about QF pts at uni, but is there a course for that at uni?

        • @stan-C:

I said show me a better plan for the money, and you showed me a cheaper plan.

I'm glad you and many people use your Qantas points for toasters and gift cards - leaves more of the valuable rewards for the points graduates!

        • @digitalane:

Just show me the money and flat beds with champagne cruising at 39,000 feet.

        • not everybody collect QF points , for some people the deal is purely tangible cash left in pocket.

        • @digitalane: Hope to see QF points Analyzer on seek soon. Too valuable.

      • This is what has been achieved in the past week:

2yr service on the 20G plan:

        8+ 256G 74/m
        8+ 64G 64/m

        • cheaper but almost half the inclusions

        • @digitalane: Well, 3yr contract tho… I'd take the half inclusion as most of us won't use that much. I struggle to use even half of my 20GB currently… And my wife got another 20GB that is shared with me.

  • Not as good as the Optus deal which was almost too good to be true (not sure if its already expired?). But it was for new customers only so I had to port to Voda & then port back to Optus

    • -5

Geez! Another one - how can you compare a plan with 20GB and 150 mins int'l and one with 36GB and 1000 mins plus 20k QF points!?

      I despair of this place!

      • Vodafail or Optarse - a choice of two evils with poor regional coverage

        • -1

Fair comment - though Voda has come a long way. I have used Optus, Telstra and Vodafone in the Sunshine Coast over last 5 years and Vodafone is pretty much as good as Telstra now, and definitely better than Optus.

        • +1

@digitalane: A year ago we got away from the abysmal Optus Mobile, and in a couple of weeks we get rid of their NBN plan.

I’ve had my gripes with Vodafone in the past but to compare them to Optus is a massive insult.

        • regional coverage is a broad term, was on holidays and optus and telstra has less than great coverage in some areas as they used the same towers, which results in same coverage, both have band 28 ….. tested both telstra and optus sims …..

voda might be different due to the number of towers ( less then optus or telstra) they have, especially regionally.

        • regional lol

      • If you're happy with the plan you got, let others comment what they think. You don't need everyone's tick of approval that you got a good plan.

    • It's over as from Today :(

But congrats who got that plan, it was an amazing deal to pricematch Telstra

  • I wonder is the phone sim free so I can use it with any sim, as I travel to oversea alot?

    • +2

voda has great international roaming deals, it’s one of their selling points , that way you have your number if people want to call you and you can call people , and they know if you called you by the caller id.

  • You can get 40GB plan for same price.

    • true - but without the international inclusions

  • Nice find OP for the ones who needs more data. For info I was able to get Vodafone match the Optus iPhone 8 Plus 64gb deal, 20gb data and 2200 international minutes all up for $64 in store at fountain gate Vodafone store. .

    • Similar to jack2015, I was able to get Vodafone to match, but with an iPhone 8 256GB, 20gb (share data as I have a second number on the same account), 2200 international minutes (2000 on 12 eligible countries, 200 on selected countries), 15000 Qantas points for $69 per months. The live chat did mention because I'm an existing customer he was able to offer this, you should try your luck with the live chat before heading to the store anyway just to see what they can do.

  • This Deal will end on the 8th while the more data on the 60$ plan will end on the 30 of jan. Were not sure what is after that

  • How do I claim the student discount?

  • Cashrewards - $45?

  • Optus had this phone for $64 a month on a 24 month plan… please hand in your ozbargain badge.

    • But that had almost half the inclusions on the plan. Please hand your ozbargain bade in

  • You can get the iPhone 8 64gb with 16gb of data from Virgin Mobile who uses the Optus network for $60. Was sold up to New Years but I snag the deal yesterday as they must have got a new shipment of phones. Also you earn velocity points. So it's a win win

  • They have extended the offer. You can still get the loyalty online and when I went into store they said it was running until the 8th, however I would check the website again as the guy in store said they keep extending it out.
